Noah just shook his head.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Emery asks, concern leaking into her voice.

Noah swallowed thickly, holding back tears. "Rowan... he was really awful to me on my birthday..."

Emery stood and went to sit next to him, offering herself if he wanted her. "Well listen, you'll never have to see him again, nobody's going to treat you bad on your birthday again under my watch."

Noah nodded, still in his bad memories.

"Would you like me to do anything for you?" She asks, starting to rub his back.

Noah shook his head, beginning to slow cry. That day had been awful.

Emery stayed where she was, there if he needed her.

Noah slow cried, feeling very alone, even though she was right there. Hunter had done awful things to her, but surely not as awful as what Rowan had done to him. He'd violated his body and degraded him. He'd injured him and was too violent for no reason. It had been awful.

Emery kept rubbing his back, shooing Max away.
