It did not atumaticly pay them, and I had to change the payday to get them paid.

They are never automatically paid. You have to hit the button every week

You have to go to the rider's page and click to the link to pay whatever is due. Also, Every time you change the payday to pay it charges you a lot more than if you just kept the date. I think it charges 3x the amount per rider. I have riders due to be paid every day so I just make it a daily thing to click and pay them.
