Worth it craic. Used to be a super popular idea before there was 100cap for 1k ebs. We would call them fodder horses. But in my opinion, still very worth it for an extra 100k each RO

is it worth buying a barn to then breed the rest of my horses to set free the foals after RO? or is that a waste of money

.
I have a collection of PEE-EWW RID mares from capture day. I only breed SD, so they're not of much use to me. I've bravery tested many of them and gotten some E and W bravery. I don't know what the market is like for wild RIDs, especially those with ratings and bravery. Thanks!

As a wild RID stable myself, I can tell you that it's really hard to sell anything PEE or less and anything E bravery or less. I've had PEE mares up for like 1500 that sat there for years and I ended up free ranging. Your best bet is to try and get EEE or better out of them and sell the foals.

EEE and above are better but can still be all over the place. I've bought EEE mares as low as 1k and EWW as low as 40k (mare). I've seen RIDs go all the way to retirement sitting on the sales page because they're overpriced, and not many people want to invest into wilds because of their unreliability, especially RIDs.

W bravery adds a good chunk but most don't pay much more for E or below.

I've seen EEE mares move (albeit slowly) at $15k, but $10k is usually a good number. EWE anything from $20k to $50k, EWW $100k maybe up to $200k, though again I've bought quite a few for less. Colours and patterns definitely help. Training and production history can both help and hinder sales, so it's a gamble. And with the changes to the breeding algorithm we had recently, we've had a flood of EEE and EWE horses, even I don't pay as much for them as I used to because I'm drowning in them.

As an SD breeder you might get more value out of trading them for SD mares that would suit your program better.

Just my two cents as a too-much-online, wild-focused RID breeder who checks the sales page near hourly.

Just my two cents - everything with E and up bravery, train it in the roundpen and then sell it. A young mare that is E or W brave and fully trained should get you at least 30k as an explore horse, and if their event ratings are PEE+, they could make for good show horses on cycle suppressant, too. If not, they make good surrogates for embryos.
