People are weird for being weird about divorced parents.

Oh wow, yeah, you were an infant! Whatever your parents did has nothing to do with you at that point. I don't know why someone would judge a kid for having divorced parents. That's just wild.

He didn’t realize, he backtracked some once he was told but he also had a habit of mansplaining that made it very funny to be a part of haha

@Lux, sounds like he needed to vent. That or didn't realize everyone at the table had divorced parents. XD

I once went on a double date where the other’s guy talked about how traumatic their parents amicable divorce was and how we didn’t know how divorce could be damaging for kids (they were 17 when it happened). While divorce can be traumatic and damaging, he was talking to a table full of people with divorced parents

@Rainy, I have been looked down on it for my whole life even though I wasn't even 1 when it happened. It sucks.

I think it was the fact that he talked about his special interest and himself for the whole hour and a half that bothered me.

Yeah the special interest talk isn't bad. Just can be for the wrong person lol

The talking about yourself the whole time tho?? That's crazy. I always worry that I talk too much about myself just in one simple conversation lol

@Snitch, was he fascinated with tree rings too?

So I just kind of finished making this, but I need a little help figuring out what it needs more of and if I was to sell this, how much would you pay for it?

I need honest DETAILED opinions, please and thank you! :)

Also, I know I’m not that big in the art field yet but should I make an art club?

I would pay about 1,000 ebs, and could use work.

Okay? But that’s not what I asked. Sorry if I sound rude but I need details of what needs to be done to it.....

Maybe try and add some depth and shadowing on the legs to make the horse slightly darker to match the background :) I love the hand drawn look of the mane and tail

The first thing I notice about this is the lighting. Most of the top artists on HEE have found a way to make the lighting coincide between the horse and the background. For example, in your piece, the background is quite dark while the horse is rather bright. I would lower the brightness and the horse and mess around with the contrast to make it look more natural. Another thing that most top artists do is color balance. Now I do not know if GIMP or any other platforms have it under the same name, but there should be something similar. (I am PS CC 18 user and I am unfamiliar with GIMP). Color balance is a series of three scale where you can shift the hues of the horse. I suggest try to tone the horse to match the BG. If you have PS, you might also do an auto-tone/auto-color a couple of times to see how it looks. The second thing I notice is that it seems you hand painted the mane and tail, as stated by the Joker and I love it. A great way to be successful in the art industry is to be unique and hand painting is a sought after skill. The only way I see you can improve the mane and tail is adding some more depth. For example you might want to add some more hues of white. You would want to add some highlights and shadows (ie. light and dark hues of the original mane/tail color). Last few things... horse shadow, hooves, and bg. You need to focus on the details. Details make it happen. Your piece is good without them, but with them it will pop! Adding a shadow on the ground gives the piece a more realistic feel. Similarly adding a sort of shine around the outside of the horse makes it pop from the background. You can also blur background as most artists do and leave the foreground sharp just to make the horse the center of attention. Your hooves look amazing, again the only thing is integrating the lighting. If your hooves are in a dark area, you want to darken them; if your hooves are in a field, you want to give them the effect of being in grass; if your hooves are in the light, you want to make them shine; and so on. You are off to a great start here, and with some practice I think you will become an amazing artist. Pricing wise I would say you could get around 10k-15k. Maybe a little more with more practice. The more you work at it the better you will get. Pricing is truly a personal judgement of what you think is fair for your work so it should be adjusted accordingly. As you get better it should increase. I hope that helps! :) Lovely job here.

Just saw you ask whether or not to make a club yet. Again, totally up to you. For a beginning artist, I would say just work on getting better and attracting customers. Once you begin to have several returning customers, then you should start thinking about a club. I hope this doesn't sound rude, I just think that you have quite a bit of potential if it can be honed. This is a spectacular first try and I must say you kept quite a bit of quality in your resize; the image is very clear. That is a big plus. :)

You have no idea how much this has helped me, thank you so much!!! I’m also happy to know you guys both like the mane and tail, that’s the most time consuming part for me on this. I will keep playing around with this then, and thank you again for all the tips! <3

No I agree, it was just a thought anyway,I don’t really think I’d be able to handle a club at this time. And I understand the returning customers thing and it didn’t sound rude at all, thank you again! <3
