I have started using some new techniques and styles with my work and I would love a critique on some of my latest pieces ;)

I think one of the biggest things that can help is making sure the horses belong in the backgrounds, and color correction is one excellent method for this. One way you can do this is to take hues from the background with an eyedropper tool, make new layers for each horse, color over the horse in the new layer, and then change the filter of the layer to something like 'Soft Light' if you use GIMP. This alters the color of the horses to better match the background and make it more natural. :) You can also add lighting where light reflects off the horse according to the light source in the background, like the lightning in the second picture.

Thank you ^-^ and that was my first time doing it, and it's actually quite simple, you just make sure the horse behind is on a lower layer ;).
