*heavy sigh* My parents went into my work to buy an item. Dads one female coworker saw him again and said hello in an inapproiate way.

Sooo, I'm a bit miserable from things going back and forth between my parents.

Guess dad will not be going into my work at that time/day of the week for a LONG while.

Hello! I am starting to look into opening an art shop but I'm stuck between pricing my art in high T3 or low T2, so some advice would be greatly appreciated! My current free art shop can be found here!
-
Here are my most recent pieces, but I'm working on more if these aren't enough to get a good ballpark!

-
Criticism/ideas for what I should work on are also appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I would say around 40k-45k, and here's why

The body prep is really good! You're work on the hair is going in a good direction along with understanding how lighting works. However, some things I spotted that could use some help before going up to tier 2 or a higher price is, you seem to really struggle with grounding, as well as getting the horse to match their environment.

You have a white horse in a field of mostly green and yellows, so I would expect to see a bit of a green hue on things like the belly, and near the base of the feet. The horse on the bottom, the grounding could use a bit of work. The shape of the hooves as well as the shading do not seem realistic and it kind of draws attention to itself. I would recommend looking and studying hooves and working on practicing them!

The fox in the lower piece as well is kind of distracting, because unless that is a really small horse, which when compared to its background it doesn't appear to be, that fox is abnormally large. It's good to have a basic understanding of composition in instances like this to try and sell the realistic aspect of the image and make it all effortlessly seam itself together.

Overall I think you are going in a good direction, however you definitely do have a few key things you need to work on first.

I'm seeing a lot of inconsistency with the body prep, hair, and especially the hooves. You haven't properly painted the hooves/blended the hooves in before, so I can't say you have simple grounding down. In terms of hair, the first image you didn't touch it. The second image there is no depth to the hair. In terms of body prep, there are odd places in both images where muscles aren't very visible, that you've added to the anatomy of the horse. I'd recommend studying where muscles and bones are in horses and comparing it to some practice images for body prep. In terms of lighting, you're decent at the placing of highlights/shadows. I'd work more on that; there are plenty of tutorials on youtube and in the forums for body prep and this.

Overall, I'd say you should be pricing low to mid tier 3 prices; 15-20k, 25k max. I'm not the best at hair, but I can give you some tips with simple body-prep techniques to raise your prices^^

Thank you both so much! I really appreciate the tips and will make sure to more closely study what you've listed before I sell my work, and I'll continue to work through my free art shop for now! I would love it if you guys could recommend any tutorials, and Riven I would very much appreciate some body prep assistance! Would it just be best to PM you? Again this was actually really great constructive criticism, thank you both for being so kind ^^

Hello! Just came here to say I finished another piece using some tips I've gathered and would love additional feedback on it! I'm pretty proud of this one but I won't let that get in the way, as I'd love to understand where I can further improve!

I'd say you still need to price your pieces between 15-20k, as one good piece doesn't guarantee you'll be consistent with your techniques every time. The first thing that stands out to me is the hair. The hair is very flat, and doesn't have shading to it. Another thing is the whiskers on the horse. While they can be cute in real life, they often don't look good on manips. That could just be my opinion, but I just wanted to give you a little heads up on that one. Another thing I notice is the reflection. When it comes to reflections, you don't want to go and smudge it to go with the ripples. The water is still, which essentially means it wouldn't be that way in the first place. Another thing I notice in that piece is the body prep. While it does look amazing at a first glance, while looking closely you'll see smaller imperfections in the horse's muscles, and a few odd little accidental smudges. I recommend watching tutorials on youtube, and going through the guides in the art help section of the forums. Many Tier 1 artists have some good tutorials on various things, and I think it could do you some good to watch a few. Overall, I've got one more thing to say: don't rush yourself. If you're aiming to consistently up your tier, and your prices, you're going to end up messing up, working yourself too hard, and having a major art block. Or, your pieces may start to be really inconsistent in quality, and you'll lose some customers. If I were you, I'd hang around tier 3 for a while, until you have people saying regularly you should be in tier 2. Of course, don't over-stress yourself too much. Trying to meet the demands for art can be very stressful, and you will become very exhausted.
