But yes, I think you're right that it flies under the radar a lot. I was fascinated to learn, for example, that most of the American Cream Draft Horses are now understood to be mostly champagnes and not cream dilutes.

I know the general "Horse Coat Color Panel" thru UCDavis tests for it along with the other dilutes.

I feel Ch falls under the radar a lot unless you've already dealt with it or are knowledgeable about it. Do majority of gene testing automatically test for Ch when testing other dilutes?
New Road Stables
02:25:05
Right! So I was incorrect; it is how it works in real life. (At least with cremellos - how neat that no one's bred the other DD Ch variants in the real world yet.)

Ooh that's interesting! I guess because they already have such light skin, you wouldn't be able to see any mottling

Oh, that's very helpful. Thanks for sharing. Makes sense to me too now that I just looked up double cream dilutes on the International Champagne Horse Registry (ICHR). They know of only two DD champagnes, both cremellos, and both horses are visually indistinguishable from cremello.

Oooh I found this note though:
Single dilute horses will show pearl genes if there is one present; Double Dilutes will hide pearl (and also Champagne) because their coat is already maximally diluted so the other dilution factor will not have an effect. They will not show up as having silver in their name either, but I believe smokey cremes, perlinos and brown cremes with silver have white tails in the game.

Yeah, nice find! I do wonder now about all the perlinos and such I've free ranged in the past :o

This is the first double dilute with Ch I've come across so far so it threw me off about all my other possible Ch DD that I've missed. The game guide doesn't specify Ch on DD

Mayhem, that is very odd! It certainly doesn't in real life. I breed only champagnes and just looked through all my gene tested cream-champagne combos and cannot find any double creams, so I think you may be correct that that is how it works in-game.

This looks amazing Sun,
The detail is insane
However the legs are a wee bit too much smudged out. There are a few points on the body the are tinged green and don't run with the colour scheme (the shoulder and down to her rump are quite green)
Use the lasso tool and select those areas, and change the hue a bit, or you could duplicate the horse layer and change its hue, then turn the opacity down.
The way the horse is cut is a little sharp, so after you finish cutting, go over the horse again with the eraser tool just to clean it up a bit, then when you are smudging, take a smaller brush and go around the outside of the horse. :)

Would love to have a bit of critique here. The eye tutorial was a massive help and so was the hair tutorial I followed

Awesome Sage!
The horse is a wee bit too smudged out in my opinion, however if thats what you where going for thats okay too! It still looks good.
The hair is improved, its a tiny bit sticklike though, try adding hairsprings on the edges of it and you'll be golden!
The horse lighting is really good! The hair lighting needs a bit more practice and thats okay; The forelock highlights are a bit too much and don't roll with the lighting and The mane needs a bit more highlight.
When smudging, make sure you smudge the edge of the horse so it softens the horse! (I've said this so many times lol, but its essential in making your piece look polished and well done.)

I didn't do too much to this one, but I figured I'd still ask for critique. There's probably a lot I could have done but didn't lol

I'm looking for a bit of critique on this piece, it is a banner and horse avi and whoever wins it (it will be in a giveaway) will get a custom stable avi.
These are meant to be a little opaque, it is a ghost theme :)

Looks nice! Even though the horse is meant to be ghostly, it shouldn't lack detail. Let more of its color show and lighten up on the smudging (it looks like you did smudging but I could be wrong). Also, add definition lines in areas like the jaw, cheek, chest, and shoulder. Some color in the eye would be nice as well.
