I'm not sure I've ever ranted here but I'm so pissed off at the moment that it's worth it.

Context: I'm moving into a new apartment this weekend and I need furniture. Therefore, I created a Facebook account last week so I could browse Facebook Marketplace.

The past week, it's been chill. I've sent a few messages, looked at furniture, talked to people... ya know, the usual stuff you do when furniture shopping online. Today, I decided to upload a profile pic and banner becuase I thought that may make me seem more legit/approachable when talking to sellers. AND THEN IT EFFING SUSPENDED ME FOR ACCOUNT INTEGRITY REASONS. I APPEALED IT AND MY ACCOUNT GOT PERMANENTLY DISABLED. Like what the f. I literally just want to buy some furniture. Admittedly, I didn't give Facebook my correct birthday or full last name because I'm really cautious about that kind of thing but there was absolutely no reason for me to have my account completely locked and taken away. On top of that, it was reviewed by effing Meta AI. Not even an actual human. AND!! There's no way to have it appealed again or to call and talk to a physical person. My photo wasn't inappropriate. I didn't have any inappropriate interactions with other users. I'm so confused. They didn't even give me a specific reason. And now I've lost the conversations I was in the middle of with sellers so they're going to think I've ghosted them and I'm not going to get the furniture.

And I'm still furniture-less -.-

I can't access marketplace, no idea why 👍. And there's no way to contact an actual human for support! It's ridiculous!

I know there has been a ton of scammers in the past few years on fb so I believe the "red flag" was that your account was brand new and interacting on marketplace. I do however agree that there needs to be some form of contact with a human and that relying on AI is ridiculous! Not sure which country you are in but in Australia we have other platforms like Gumtree, Trading post etc. You could try second-hand stores (they can be great in Australia!), try garage sales, you could even put a flyer up in a general store (we can do that in Australia, unsure about other countries).

Ugh Gem this sucks so much, I'm sorry. If you're in the US, you can try Nextdoor? Basically the same but I hopefully lacking in AI running around banning people!
