Sage just chuckled softly in response to her comment, shaking his head. "If you tried that, you would have died," he noted in a fairly surprising casual way. He had no doubt that she was good enough with the knife - she had it for a reason, he assumed. But he had been mastering his own skills for over a decade now. She really wouldn't have much of a chance had she decided to try and attack him. Plus, he couldn't imagine how anyone could fight in a dress like that - no, he'd have to find better outfits for them.

As she mentioned the men, and temptation, he shook his head again. "They're likely to tease any new crewmember, female or not," he noted. "they can take things way too far sometimes, despite my best warnings." He wrinkled his nose slightly. You'd think the men would be more sensible sometimes. But no. They weren't. Sage himself wasn't very level headed, and he didn't really plan things out much - but that left him to do just that. Luckily, his first mate was good at that sort of thing, and wasn't quick to jump into anything, unless it was stopping Sage from doing something reckless out of impulse.

He grunted when the gigrls seemed to like the cabin, nodding along. "Good, cuz it's all we've got," he noted with faint amusement. "And it's bigger than my own cabin so you'd better be grateful," he added with a small laugh. But it made sense, since there were two of them, so it worked out alright. And he had plenty of space in his own cabin, so it wasn't like it was an issue or anything. "I'll see if I can find some trousers and tunics that might fit you well enough," he noted after a moment or so. "Those dresses are liable to get you killed one of these days," he added, sort of grumbling though not upset at anything, just mroe thinking hard about how this was all supposed to work.

Sage had sort of just lingered, grunting when the woman spoke up again. He was finding that she talked a lot ....not that he was necessarily upset about it. If anything, he was enjoying their banter - probably more than he should be. It was dangerous to form friendships, or any kind of relationship, outside of a work one where you could trust the men beside you in this kind of situation. People got killed left and right ....which was why he was having second doubts about all this. If she got hurt, or worse killed, or her friends was hurt of killed....well, he feel just awful about it. And he didn't like that. He didn't like that he'd barely talked to this girl and didn't know her at all, and he was already beginning to like her. He thought he had learned his lesson with Amy. Apparently, he had not.

"Hell no, wouldn't dream of it," he noted when she mentioned they wouldnt be submissive. "Any crew member has the right to self defense ". Then he shrugged. "Besides, their egos could stand to take a heavy blow now and again," he added with a small chuckle. Even so, he would make it clear to his men that the women were part of the crew and should be treated well, like any other member. His men would just have to live with it if they didn't like it, at least for the time being. Besides, he had a feeling these women could hold their own - or rather, one of them has enough guts for the both of them. Something told him Adelaide was more than what she let on. His mind wandered back to the blood she'd brought with her, but moved on before he could think too much about it.

He nodded once in response to her thank you, shifting his weight slightly awkwardly. He couldn't remember the last time he'd been thanked by someone...at least, where it was actually genuine. It was odd. He wasn't entirely sure how to respond on the moment. "I'll find better outfits," he noted with a shake of his head. "You can only alter them so much, and while you're working you're going to want clothes you can pretty much get ruined," he noted. "You'll get messy. Really messy. Clothes get gross real fast, and there's no good way to wash them on board the ship...not enough fresh water. And washing in salt water is no good," he added on, moving over to the doors. "Get settled in. There's a few hours before dinner....use that to do what you need," he noted before slipping out the door and closing it quietly behind him.
