Main Info Name: Matteo Caruso Age: 20 Gender: Male Nickname/s: Matt Origin: Italian / English - Appearance: Matt stands at around 5ft11, just off 6ft. He has a slim build, but lean, having built up muscle from riding more than anything. He takes care of himsel a fair amount too, so he's working out here and then when he can. His facial features dont stand out too much, they're fairly average -very light hazel coloured, almost almond shaped eyes, a slightly sharp jawline, and very slight dimples when he smiles. His skin is tanned, fitting nicely with his dark brunette hair, that carries a very slight fringe that falls to the left. If he's not wearing a solid white shirt and riding pants, his usual outfit is black cargo pants and any solid color t-shirt. Despite being around horses for the majority of his time, he wears rings a lot, something he has an extensive collection of. There's never been anything too crazy about is outfits either, having no desire to switch it up at all. - Personality: When it comes to his friends and family, Matt is about as sweet as you can get. He's helpful, kind, and as caring as possible. Not having the best background, he knows how hard it can be for people to not have anyone there. He had grown up with it, after all. However, when it comes to people he doesnt know, Matt can be very...detached. He rarely has a desire to make friends with just anyone, and his detached personality can come off as very rude to the wrong person. Its never his intention of course, but that doesnt stop it from being the case. When it comes to people he actively dislikes, it would be a lie to say he wasn't an asshole. He was sarcastic, harsh, and had a thing for provoking people just a bit too far. Sometimes. - Family/Background Matt didnt have the best chidhood growing up. His parents had brought him up around money, and money only. What sounds like a good thing, was in fact quite the opposite. His father was old fashioned, believing men should never show emotion, especially around the higher ups and various galas and events. Because of that, Matt had never had the chance to speak to anyone close to him, he had never...tried. Never really trusted them. As if that wasn't enough, his mother would and still does, criticise every single thing possible. He got something wrong? Criticised. He did something his way? He's selfish. He changes his appearance? He's hit with a "You look...different." It was tiring. Matt does have a sister too, Lexi. She's the favourite sibling by far, ad boy does she rub that in. - Likes/Dislikes Likes: Horses, cars, music. Depending on the person, all he talks about are those three things. Dislikes: The ocean. That's it, and he does have a reason. - Other Will maybe add to this tomorrow if I need too! Edited at May 16, 2026 07:47 PM by Wayside Wilds

Apologies if this isnt great to start off with :')) - It had been a little over a week since everything at Utopia academy had changed. The riders there that were once known for high prestige levels, talented riders and even mor talented horses, had been entitely uprooted - or that's how they felt, anyway. What was once a well working team of young riders, was now entirely different. For one thing, it was two teams, two that absolutely despised each other at that. The majority of people there weren't getting on with Hollowhearts academy, an academy that had been recently shut down, and had to move to Utopia. None of the Utopia riders knew if it was permanent or not, and it was unsure to them if Hollowhearts knew themselves - but it was clear that every single one of them could only pray this wasn't forever. Especially not with one of the most prestigious eventing shows coming up in some months. - Matt had spent the majority of that day in the barn, helping out with some young children that had come to visit the academy, something different groups came to do one weekend a month. Given the tense atmosphere, it had taken a lot of work for Matt to keep the children from witnessing any arguments, petty comments they might repeat later at home, any bad behaviour really. Whilst he had done a good job, and the children hadn't noticed a thing - he sure had. It was safe to say, he was entirely fed up with the Hollowhearts riders, and it had only been a week. - After saying waving off the minibus of children, Matt turned back to the barn, bringing out his phone to check it. It was gone 6pm, and the sun was just starting to set over Utopia Academy. Ignoring the glaring looks from a few people he didnt recognise, he made his way back to the barn, to the very end stall on the left row. In there stood a light bay Swedish Warmblood, facing away from the stall door and munching on hay. Matt swept his hand over the dusty nameplate, revealing the name Falcon as he did so. Falcon was an 8 year old gelding he had had since he was a foal, and with minimal helped, trained up himself. He was an extremely talented jumper, excelling in showjumping and cross country - but not so much in dressage. Not that that mattered, Matt hated dressage anyway. - He entered Falcon's stall with a smile, watching as the gelding immediately broke away from his hay, shoving his nose into Matt's chest. he smiled, patting the gelding's nose, pushing him away gently. With that, he got to work on checking the gelding over as he did every night, checking for any injuries. It was alredy an obessive habit Matt had, and the Hollowhearts riders being here only made it worse. Who knows what stunts they'd pull. - Also i forgot to ask, would you prefer they have dorms IN the academy or no? It may be easier but of course I dont mind !!)

(It's great :) And dorms in the place does sound easier, so that'd work.) •~• Eleanor wasn't happy. Not one bit. Moving academies? Sure it sucked, but at least she would be able to deal with it. But moving to the Utopia Academy? She had thought of quitting right then and there. What were the Heads thinking?! There was plenty other schools they could've moved in with, and they picked the absolute worst one. None of the Hollowhearts riders were happy about this arrangement and it was clear neither were any of the Utopia riders. Least they could agree on one thing. The riders of her academy had stayed in groups, rarely interacting with anyone from this school. Unless it was to say or do something to show their hatred of course. •~• Eleanor had just finished moving the last of her stuff into her dorm room, cleaning up the last of the empty boxes. A simple warm feeling dorm room. Cream colored walls, a desk and bed in opposite corners, and a few things she added herself. The week had been class free, to give people time to settle in and adjust. With the empty time she had, she spent either out with her horse or wandering the grounds and halls. Reluctantly. She checked the time, 6:23 pm, and let out a annoyed huff. Katherine, her best friend, was supposed to be here by now, they were gonna go out for a ride together. Her phone dinged and she checked it, reading quickly. Busy, something about her parents. Great. •~• She changed into her gear and left her room, navigating the still unfamiliar halls but thankfully only getting turned around once. Avoided anyone she didn't think was from Hollowhearts. She had personal reasons to hate Utopia just like anyone else from her school, and she didn't hide it. Once out in fresh air she let out a relieved sigh and headed down to one of the barns. The added horses situation was still being dealt with, but things were slowly smoothing out. She dodged around some leaving kids, and headed into the barn. Heading for a stall near the middle with a nameplate labeled 'Duchess.' She opened the stall and walked in. •~• She was given a nicker of greeting by a black Dutch Warmblood. A 6 year old mare that covered the small gap to press her nose to her hand. She let out a small laugh, rubbing the mare's forehead. "Sorry girl, no treats today. Wanna go for a ride instead? Promise, no Dressage or Jumping practice." She muttered, and Duchess let out a huff, turning her back. Eleanor crossed her arms and raised a brow, before rolling her eyes and heading out to get her tack. •~• (Sorry took me a bit <3 Had to think of the horse situation.)

As usual, Matt was entirely zoned out when checking Falcon over. It was something he liked, something actually...peaceful about this place. Falcon felt it too, standing with his nose in the hay, shifting his weight off his left back leg to relax. That was, until movement was heard in the barn causing Falcon's head to snap up. Matt looked up, sighing slowly. Anyone would think the gelding had been here for a day instead of years with how jumpy he was. It wasn't his usual temperament, but the new horses and many new people had evidently taken a small toll on Falcon, and a few of the other Utopia horses. - Matt finished up his checking over of the stallion, smoothing his neck down slowly. "They'll be gone soon." He said quietly, watching Falcon's ears twitch as if he was listening. After Matt was certain the horse was okay, he slipped out of the stall quietly, starting off down the barn to the tack room. If he was going to get any riding in today, it would have to be now. Couldn't have done it earlier, and any later would have them stuck to the riding arenas due to the stricter hacking rules. Befor Hollowhearts came, hacking out at night was no issue. But now there were more people, it was deemed "dangerous." How that was the case was beyond Matt's understanding, but whatever. He didn't care. - He slipped into the tack room, having absolutely no clue anyone else was in there for a good minute, having been too distracted in untangling a bridle that had been dumped on top of his tack instead of across the other side of the room, hung up where it was meant to be. It was only after the bridle was untangled, he'd slung his bridle over his shoulder and hauled the saddle down, that he realised there was someone else in there. Matt's gaze caught theirs, and he immediately recognised who it was. Well, not exactly. He didn't recongise them, which then made it clear they werent from here. For a few seconds, Matt sort of just...stood there, hoping the girl would either grab her tack and leave or move out the way, his gaze heavily on hers. When she didnt, he sighed silently, pushing past her with a scowl. "I'm sure you know how space works." He mumbled, shooting a glanc of pure frustration her way before managing to finally slip out the door. Gosh they were irritating. Always in the way, acting as if the Utopia riders were aliens or something. Maybe that was too harsh, perhaps he was judging too hard. No, that wasn't right. They were downright annoying, and Matt could only pray they'd be gone soon. - After the short interaction, Matt set his tack down by Falcon's stall, and slipped inside with a headcollar, bringing him out. The gelding followed him calmly, the setting sun casting orang shadows over his tall, lean frame as he stood patiently, being tied up. Matt patted him softly, grateful Falconw as actually staying calm this time, getting to work on grooming him. It felt...tense now. Knowing there was at least someone else in the barn, someone from Hollowhearts. - Dont worry at all :))

Eleanor found the tack room, opening the door and heading in, closing it behind her. Good, no one else was in here. She already wasn't in the happiest mood, and having to move around a Utopia rider if they were in there would've made her even more frustrated. She found her own tack, and focused on giving the saddle a quick wipe down and finding the bridle. She didn't hear someone come into the room, nor the door open. She did hear the footsteps after a moment and kept her eyes on her tack. Don't comment, don't look. Grabbing a saddle blanket and gathering it all, she finally looked up and her eyes met someone else's. Yup, definitely Utopia. If they fact she didn't recognize them didn't already say that, the look on his face definitely confirmed it. •~• Eleanor opened her mouth to give a comment of her own, but the boy shoved past her and left. "Do you?" She answered to the empty air. 'Of course, shouldn't expect anything less from their riders.' She thought, annoyance growing. She took a deep breath but that didn't calm anything down. She gripped her stuff tighter and left the tack room herself. Ignoring the boy and the horse he led out, that she saw from the corner of her eye. She sat her things down on a nearby table before heading back to Duchess's stall. Opening it up once more and leading her mare out. Tying her up before she began tacking her up. "This place somehow just became even more less appealing. Didn't think that was possible." She said to Duchess, patting her neck while she put the bridle on the mare. •~• Eleanor finished tacking Duchess, un tying her and began leading her out. She shot her own glare at the boy as they passed. Muttering, something about Utopia riders under her breath. "Hopefully that horse has a better attitude than it's rider." She mumbled before she led Duchess out of the barn. She gave the mare a last pat on the neck, running her hands through her mane to untangle some of the little knots. Before she mounted, swinging herself up onto the horse's back. She took a moment to adjust, glancing up towards the sky. The sun was quickly disappearing, they wouldn't have much time to go down a longer trail. She started a walk, leading Duchess around the barns and towards one of the smaller trails. Duchess sped up into a trot and she let the mare, knowing the horse need as much of a break as she did in the unfamiliar place. Edited at May 17, 2026 06:17 PM by Hollow Hearts

Matt knew at least some comments would be passed back after his, it was evident, but he would be lying if he said the muttering just loud enough for him to hear, didn't piss him off. They couldnt just say something to his face? Clearly not. With a long sigh, Matt finished up grooming Falcon, re checking his legs over again for any heart, before finally tacking him up. Whilst the gelding was as calm as possible in the barn, as soon as Matt led him out, it was evident he had pent up frustration from the bustling atmosphere that day. He didnt blame Falcon, after all. Hollowhearts being around was tricky enough, but a bunch of children also running around shouting much louder than anyone appreciated? It was bound to push the gelding over the egde, especially one that wasn't a fan of many people around him at once. That had been a huge issue at shows, too. And not something Matt was able to train out of him. - It took a good five minutes of standing with Falcon, talking to him gently, to get him to stand still long enough for Matt to mount. He swung his leg over the saddle, settling into it gently and picking up the reins. fter checking his surroundings, he gently urged the gelding on towards the right of three signed trails. The left headed towards the longest, covering a lot of ground and circiling back through the village. The middle was a medium length, heading through the woods and back down a few fields. The right trail was the shorter of the three, simply heading through a wooded track, coming out into the village and back around. It definitely wasn't Matt's favourite, and Falcon needed to let his energy out, but it was late. And again, thanks to Hollowhearts being there, they didnt have all the time in the world. - Uknowingly, Matt had set off a fair bit after the girl from earleir had, so he didnt spot her. Not at first, at least. Falcon plodded down the wooded track, occasionally spotting and being alerted by the hanging branches, though he seemed to settle down nicely - much to Matt's liking. Though when they hit the open clearing that led to the brdge to the village, he knew to be prepared for the gelding to become much more pent up. Usually, he let Falcon canter freely down the clearing, a much liked activity for both of them. - As they rode, Matt's mind could only go back to his parents. He had seen them both the week before Hollowhearts came, visiting them as he usually did at least once a month. He hated it, of course, his mother was always picking apart at any little thing. This time it had been, "when will you finally bring a girl back? when will you finally get your life together?" Gosh it frustrated him. Matt snapped himself back to reality and brought his phone out of his pocket, instead gathering the reins in one hand, scrolling through social media with the other. That, paired with a fresh gelding, rings lining his fingers and no regards for anyone else on the trail, was certainly not a good combination.

Eleanor had indeed gone down the trail she believed was shortest. At least if she was reading the trail sign correctly, which she believed she was. She lead Duchess down the trail, who was happy to be down a unfamiliar trail. She hadn't really rode down any trails yet, only letting Duchess out to stretch her legs in a pasture for the time being. But now the mare was happy to have more freedom again. As they entered a clearing she paused and let Duchess graze for a few minutes on the grass. Stretching her arms above her head before relaxing in the saddle. One main problem with her beautiful mare, the creature loved to eat more than anything. She never really showed it, but that's mainly because Eleanor gave her extra training and exercise. It was tiring, but she love Duchess anyway. •~• After giving Duchess a appropriate amount of time, she clicked her tongue and brought Duchess back into a trot. "Come on girl, let's continue. Finish this up before it gets too dark." She crossed the small bridge, Duchess nickering slightly at the obstacle but crossing anyway. Eleanor wouldn't admit it out loud, but the trail was nice. Nice for something from Utopia, yeah that's it. She slowed Duchess to a walk as they came upon the village, taking the time to look around, regrettably a little curious. There really was a village this close to the Academy. She wondered why they were allowed to live so close. She wanted to dismount and look around, but she didn't have the time. She made a mental note to come back another day and actually look around. She'd use Duchess as an excuse, she could see how the mare was eyeing a stall with fruits and vegetables, specifically the carrots. •~• When they began exiting the village Duchess stopped, shaking her head up and down with a neigh. Eleanor let out a exasperated sigh, but amusement laced it. "Really? Your really that greedy you muncher? Fine, okay just this once. Quickly." She dismounted and trusting with the promise of food that Duchess would stay, she headed to get a few carrots. The seller tried to engage in chitchat, but Eleanor didn't join in. Only talking to pick and purchase. Eventually the seller got the hint and just gave her the carrots and took the money. She gave a quick thanks and headed back to Duchess. The mare was thankfully still there, if a little impatient. She grabbed the bridle before holding her hand with the carrot out, letting Duchess munch away. A break, a good break from everything wrong, everything with Utopia. Edited at May 17, 2026 07:20 PM by Hollow Hearts
