Kai nodded and kept driving. "I love you" He murmured

Kai drove the rest of the way while she slept, checking every now and then that she looked comfortable. He made sure the car stayed a good temp and that she didn't slip at all on the seat from any bumps or turns.

Kai eventually pulled up to their destination and gently shook Lorelei awake. "We're here, baby." He'd messaged his 'brother', Cody, an hour before arriving as a heads up. Cody had been entirely fine with it and had gotten the spare room ready as well as made dinner for them. Kai parked and got out before going to Lorelei's side and opening her door. A tall, brunette man, built like a Navy Seal, stood in the doorway to the house. "What'ya been up to, slacker?" Cody called teasingly. "More than you, lazy!" Kai called back with a chuckle

"And who's this?" Cody asked, looking toward Lorelei. "This is my beautiful girlfriend, Lorelei." Kai said softly, taking Lorelei's hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Come in" Cody said, stepping to the side to allow them to pass. Kai led them both inside as Cody locked the door. A woman, looking around 25 poked her head around the corner as two little girls--one 4 years old and the other 5--sprinted toward Kai from down the hall. "Uncle Kai!" The older girl, Megan, exclaimed, throwing herself at him. "Look at you! You're so big, Megan!" He chuckled, grabbing her and lifting her into the air. "I grew, like, a fousand inches!" Megan giggled as the smaller girl caught up to her. "Hey, Chloe" Kai said softly while Chloe panted for air. She had never been too much of a talker like her sister, but she still spoke from time to time. "Hi, Uncle Kai" She said quietly. Kai crouched and set Megan down. "What have you girls been up to?" Kai asked softly, smiling. "A lot. Mommy made us pancakes for breakfast this morning" Megan informed him, tugging him toward the living room. Kai looked at Lorelei with a smile and motioned for her to follow.

"Wait here. I'm grabbing my new unicorn mommy got me!" Megan said excitedly, trying to push him to sit on the couch. Chloe nodded and followed Megan upstairs to grab their unicorns. Kai chuckled and placed his arm around Lorelei's waist in a reassuring touch. He rubbed his thumb gently on her side, just enough to tell her she was okay and he had her. Cody sat down across from them as his wife, Emily, walked over. "Drinks?" She offered, holding a beer out to Kai. "No thanks, Emily. Thank you, though." He said, shaking his head with a smile. "Do you want anything, baby?" He asked Lorelei quietly
