Sera held his hand tightly the entire walk back, her thumb gently rubbing small, comforting circles against his skin. She noticed the way Finn hesitated before lowering his hood—the quiet courage it took. She didn’t say anything, didn’t draw attention to it. Just held his hand like it was the most natural thing in the world. But the weight of the day, the emotion, the ache in her chest from watching him spiral and try to hold himself together—it all built quietly inside her. By the time they reached the door, her smile was strained. Her love for him hadn’t faltered, not for a second—but the lingering helplessness, the heartbreak of watching someone she loved not be able to love himself back, was eating her alive. As soon as they stepped inside she muttered a quick, “I’ll be right back,” and bolted down the hall. She barely made it to the bathroom in time, dropping to her knees as the nausea hit. Her stomach lurched and she vomited into the toilet, her hands trembling against the cold tile floor. |

Sera leaned into him as his soothing magic settled her stomach, the worst of the nausea passing with each soft circle he rubbed into her back. She let out a shaky breath, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand before turning her head slightly toward him. “I’m okay,” she murmured, her voice tired but sincere. “Just… the day caught up with me, I guess.” She tried to smile, a small thing tugging at the corner of her lips. “It’s not your fault. I promise. I think I just—didn’t eat enough, or maybe it’s stress. I don’t know.” Her eyes met his, filled with love despite the exhaustion behind them. “But I’m okay now. Really. You don’t have to worry.” She reached out, brushing her fingers along his cheek. “You take care of me even when I’m falling apart a little. I don’t know what I’d do without you.” |
