Sage had he;ped Quinn with the babied for a while before deciding he should probably go hunt. They'd used their last rabbit....he hadn't hunted much at a time recently since Quinn was quite pregnant and he hadn't wanted to leave for too long. Plus, smokign the meat took a long time, which neither of them had the time to do, and otherwise the meat would be wasted. But, now he could go for something larger like a deer, so hea headed out soon after finishing their meal, on all fours like he normally hunted, loping along sniffing the air until he found a boar trail and followed it cautiously. Wild boars could be dangerous, but he knew how to handle them well, so he was confident he could bring home a decent meal.

Sage had wandered along for a while, following the trail, until he came across the place where the boars were living. He circled the area cautiously, giving them a wide berth at first and then slowly creeping closer and closer to the animals. It allowed him to really get a feel of the land, and make sure he wouldn't be surprised by anything.

Once he was confident he could get a good shot in, he picked his target.....a large male boar, laying in the sun. The animal has enough meat to feed them for at least a week or so, so he was definitely a good pick. He crept up on him, lunging out of the bushes, jaws closing around the animals neck with a snap. The animal struggled of course, but Sage knew how to stay away from his tusks and hooves, so soon enough he had his prey. He clenched his jaw around the animals neck again, muscles rippling as he dragged it back to their home.

As he neared the cabin, he smelled something that made his hair stand on edge....another human. And the sharp tangs of metal, which means he was armed. He sped up, dragging the boar around the cabin and dropped it by the door, snarling at the intruder as he moved to crouch next to Quinn within a seconds notice, ready to ponce of need be.

The young man's eyes widened as a male came-running- on all fours- what the hail? He tilted his head in utter confusion, slowly standing, but freezing again when the woman snapped at him. "Uh-- um- I was on a hunting trip, and I stumbled across the path. I thought it was a deer path. M-- my name is Jackson. Nice to meet you... both?" He said tentatively.

Quinn lifted an eyebrow, glancing at Sage. "He obviously can't do anything." She mumbled, walking forward and grabbing the bow, and arrows, before backing up and crossing her arms as the man explained. "Huh." She contemplated something before turning to Sage. "Can you please go make sure Caspian and Frynn are okay?" She whispered, concern glimmering in her emerald green eyes, then she turned back to this Jackson.

Jack swallowed some words. "Umm... I came a long way, and I know it's probably not the best time to ask, but do you think I could stay a little while? I can't make it back before dark, and I don't want to travel in the woods alone after dark.. you probably know how dangerous it is. Just till tomorrow. Please?" He rubbed the back of his neck with a pleading expression,

Sage had grumbled in agreement with Quinn when she said the other boy couldn't do anything, though he still kept a wary eye on him. He just didn't trust people, and he figured he had plenty of good reasons to. He nodded once when Quinn asked him to check on the kids, eyes not leaving this jackson as he moved slowly into the cabin. Both babies were still asleep, thankfully, so he moved back out, hovering in the doorway, protecting both the kids and Quinn. And admittedly, their food too, though that wasn't as important as his family, of course.

He scowled when the otheran asked if he could stay the night, growling "no," shortly, not bothering to explain himself. He was a hunter....he should be able to manage the woods at night. Though, Quinn had shot him a glance which made him glance back at her, admittedly rather confused. Was she really thinking of letting him stay?

Quinn shot Sage another glance, then looked back at Jackson, stony for a moment before letting out a low sigh. "If you make one aggressive move towards me or Sage I will decapitate you myself and burn you in the fire." She growled lowly, huffing quierly before moving back, towards Sage. "I know you don't want this, but maybe it'll be nice having someone to talk to." She mumbled lowly, glancing at Jack, who looked shocked, then finishing her cleanup.

Jack was rather surprised when she actually consented. That Sage didn't seem to be as happy about it, but hey, he might have somewhere to stay for the moment. He smiled faintly. "Anything I can help with?" He asked, not even trying to as for his weapons back yet. Maybe tomorrow. He hesitantly took a step forward, glancing around the small settlement.

Sage wasn't exceptionally pleased that Quinn had allowed the other man to stay, but he also wasn't going to argue with her. He let out a heavy breath of air, shooting Jack a devilish sort of glare before moving to take care of the pig carcass before it went bad. He skimmed and gutted the animal, glancing over at Jack when he asked what he could do. "Shut up and stay out of my way," he grumbled at him. If Quinn wanted to talk fine, but he didn't like the guy and he didn't trust him. So he was settling for being rude. He could deal with it.

Jack winced as the man just GLARED at him- holy crap. He'd have to stay out of that guy's way, or he had a feeling he'd be gutted. The woman, however... she was being quite nice. At the man's answer he blinked. "Okay then." He said, moving away and just standing in a corner, unmoving.

Quinn frowned slightly as Sage acted like a 3 year old that didn't like someone because they stole their favorite toy. She rolled her eyes slightly and walked over to Jack. "Nice to officially meet you. My name is Quinn, and Mr. Grumpy over there is Sage." She smiled a little, though still being guarded. She decided not to talk about Caspian or Frynn yet.. until they started crying because they were hungry, they could stay unknown of.

Jack glanced up as the woman walked over, smiling widely at her words. "Nice to meet you too, Quinn." He chuckled. "And thank you so much for letting me stay just a little bit." He added with another smile.

Sage had a feeling this jack would do pretty much anything he said to do, so he relaxed slightly, though still was obviously unpleased to have him there. He just went about his business, skinning and gutting the boar angrily before chopping it up and preparing it to be cooked.

Of course, as he was finishing that, he heard frynn start cooking, and by the time he'd crossed the yard to get to the crib, she was bawling like she hadn't been fed in days. He chuckled slightly to himself, scooping the girl up, rather used to her drama by now, and wandered back out. "She's hungry again," he murmured to Quinn, knowing she most likely would want to have some privacy inside to feed her. "Caspian's still asleep," he added quietly. The boy could sleep through anything....and sage sort of envied it, as his sleep never seemed to be deep like that.

Quinn smiled and nodded. "Yeah. We wouldn't want you wandering out alone." She answered, about to say more when Sage approached. Resisting making a sarcastic comment about how Sage would come this close to Jack, she took Frynn and nodded, quieting the baby as she disappeared inside the cabin. Well, now she was hoping Sage kept Jack away. Frynn completely stopped crying as she started getting fed, looking positively overjoyed about it. Quinn could tell Caspian was still sleeping. She grinned a little at the thought- no one she ever knew more could sleep through the enraged, hungry screams of a newborn baby.

Jack watched Quinn walk away before taking a step back from Sage, not wanting to be close enough for the man to smack him. Sage almost looked like he would. Then again, with the way they had been growling and crouching? Jack had no idea if Sage even WAS man. Wait- if they had children didn't he have to be? His brain was reeling. Quinn seemed normal-ish, but he didn't know what to think of Sage, except.. maybe.. scary.
