Sera looked up at him, their fingers already lacing together like muscle memory. She nodded slowly, her thumb brushing over his knuckles.

“Yeah… let’s go,” she murmured.

She didn’t pull away from his gaze, not at first. He saw too much—he always did. She could tell by the way he was looking at her that he’d already caught onto the strange flicker in her eyes, the one that said something doesn’t feel right,even though the doctor had just told her she was fine.

But how was she supposed to explain that? That she wanted there to be a reason, something simple and solvable, and instead she was left with… stress. Something vague and shapeless and harder to fight than any illness.

She forced a softer smile for his sake and leaned gently into his side as they began walking toward the doors.

“I’m just tired, Finn,” she said quietly, as if saying it out loud might make it feel more real. “I think I just need a minute to catch my breath.”

Sera settled into the passenger seat slowly, letting the door shut with a soft thud behind her. Her fingers fidgeted with the hem of her sleeve, eyes trained on the dashboard while Finn’s question hung gently in the air.

She turned her head, looking at him with tired eyes but a grateful smile.

“Just be here,” she said softly. “That’s all I need right now.”

Her hand found his on the center console, curling her fingers around his gently. “You don’t have to fix it. You don’t have to say anything perfect. Just… being here, being you, is more than enough.”

She leaned her head against the window, still holding his hand, eyes fluttering closed for a moment. “Let’s just go home. I think I just need a quiet night with you.”
