Sage was content to stay there, just curled up in the corner of the couch, while she moved about the kitchen. The quiet was comfortable, which he appreciated....they didn't always have to talk, or be doing something. Just....existing, being there...it was enough. It made relaxing quite a bit easier, and more enjoyable sometimes if he was being totally honest. Once she was done cooking, he sort of wandered in to the kitchen to help get out dishes and set the table and stuff, helping in a way that he could. Cooking wasn't really something he knew how to do, but he could fill up glasses with water for them and get out bowels for her to dish the stew into. He did want to help her ...he just knew he'd mess the food up if he really tried to help there. Once they had their food though, he slid into the chair, sipping at the stew curiously. His eyes widened slightly and he dug in, attempting to stay somewhat civil but it really was good. He wasn't sure he'd ever had something fresh out of the oven, and he certainly had never had anything homemade and with good meat and fresh vegetables. So yeah, it was delicious. And he was going to eat as much as physically possible. He didn't think hed ever eaten this well either, now that he thought about it. |

Jora glanced over at Sage with a half-smile as he dug into his food, clearly enjoying it more than he expected. She leaned back in her chair for a moment, watching him with a quiet, amused sort of affection. "Is it good?" she asked casually, though the way her eyes glinted made it clear she was pretty pleased by his reaction. |

Sage had hummed in response to Joras question, sort of responding without having to pause his eating. It was clear she knew he thought it was good anyway. Once he finished the first bit that was in his bowl, he wandered back over to take a second serving, shaking his head with a chuckle. "God Jora, how do you do this," he mused, already shoveling more into his mouth as he walked back to the table. He really hadn't known what he expected....but he only really had the ships food to go off of, and that wasn't the best either. Though he did develop a taste for some of the dishes the cook make. But this, he decided, was a million times better. |

Jora couldn't help but smile as Sage dove into the second helping, his obvious enjoyment making her feel a sense of pride swell in her chest. She leaned against the counter, watching him with a quiet satisfaction. "You just gotta trust the process," she said with a chuckle, crossing her arms and leaning back a bit. "It's all about balance. A little bit of this, a little bit of that... and a lotta patience." She couldn't quite hide the warmth in her tone, not when he was practically glowing over a meal she'd made. There was something so fulfilling about seeing someone enjoy her cooking, especially someone like Sage, who had always been more accustomed to the bland, ship-made meals. "Guess I do know how to cook, huh?" Jora added with a teasing grin, her eyes gleaming. She was used to people doubting her skills, but she loved proving them wrong. She leaned in a little, her voice dropping to a playful whisper, "Just wait 'til you try my mac and cheese. It'll knock your socks off." |

Sage hummed softly in response to her comment, already about halfway through the second bowl. He supposed it made sense....though he also figured trusting her to deal with all that would be the best decision. At her next comment, he down the last bit that was in his bowl and nodded, shrugging as he swallowed and grinning at her. "I'll agree with that," he mused lightly, moving to set the bowl in the sink and then grab hers, moving to wash them off. If she'd made dinner, he figured he could clean it up at least. He glanced over at her when she mentioned mac and cheese, cocking his head slightly. He wasn't even a hundred percent sure what that was. But he chuckled softly and gave her a wide grin anyway, nodding along. "I suppose I have a lot to look forward to then," he chirped lightly, knowing she probably had plenty of meals memorized that he'd never heard of. And he was sure they'd all be great. |

Jora watched him with a small smile, her gaze lingering as he cleaned up. She wasn’t used to having someone else do the dishes—especially not so willingly—but she wasn’t about to argue. It made her feel oddly warm inside, the kind of quiet satisfaction that came from small, unexpected gestures. When he mentioned the mac and cheese, she laughed softly. "Oh, you have no idea," she replied, voice light with amusement. "It’s this cheesy, creamy magic that will change your life." She grinned, leaning back against the counter, arms crossed. "Trust me, you'll be hooked." She studied him for a second, noting the way he was clearly game for whatever new experience she threw his way. A lot of people would’ve been more guarded, unsure of new things or a new person. But not him. That was...refreshing. "Guess we'll have to see what else I can surprise you with," she added, a teasing note in her voice as she watched him scrub at the bowl. |

Sage hummed softly when she explained Mac and cheese, nodding along. "It does sound lovely," he noted with a soft laugh, moving to start drying the dishes now that they were all washed. It did sound good .. and if he wasn't as full as he could be, he would get hungry again. Which was amusing. He set the bowls away after a bit, glancing over at her with a grin. "I look forward to it," he hummed, completely honest about that. "I'm sure you'll surprise me plenty of times soon enough," he added in a slightly more mischievous manner. He wasn't just talking about food, he supposed....though that was the main focus at this point. But he could still joke around a bit. |

Jora chuckled softly at his words, the playful tone in his voice sparking something warm in her chest. She glanced up at him, leaning slightly against the counter as she wiped her hands on the towel, the faintest of smiles tugging at the corner of her lips. "Well, I do enjoy keeping things interesting," she said, her voice light, though there was a glint of amusement in her eyes. She folded the towel and set it aside, her gaze meeting his. "But I won't make any promises. I like to keep a little mystery now and then." Her tone was teasing, but there was an underlying warmth to it, an unspoken acknowledgment that what they shared was more than just casual. "I think we'll both find plenty of surprises in the days ahead," she added, her smile turning a little more genuine. "In the kitchen... and beyond." |

She leaned back, arms crossed, her gaze playful but calculating. "Mysteries, huh?" she teased, raising an eyebrow. "Well, you're not the only one who likes to keep things interesting." She let her words hang for a moment, watching him with a smirk. "But, fair warning, Sage, I don't play fair. So, be careful what you try to figure out. Some things are better left as surprises." Her voice dropped a touch, the mischievousness lingering just beneath the surface, and she tilted her head slightly. "But I'm sure you're up for the challenge, right?" |
