The man was cruel quite a few more times in the following days, not feeding Lorelei. The boss man showed up the third day in and grinned, seeing what had happened to her. Kai finally bottled up his feelings enough to think straight after being drunk multiple days in a row. "Lorelei! No, you can't leave me!" He yelled, the love of his life being taken from him and rushed away to be attended to while he was held back by three nurses. "Sir, she'll be fine." "Sir, please sit down." "Security!" The nurses all spoke at once until he was led to a quieter lobby and rocked back and forth on the chair, sobbing his heart out.

"Cut her some slack. he was...used." The doctor said softly, patting Kai's back as he walked off. Kai rushed to Lorelei's room, taking in the monitors and his beautiful girl laying there--broken and bruised. "Baby..." He breathed, sitting beside her head and stroking her cheek. He took her hand without the IV and held it gently. "Oh, my Lorelei...I'm so sorry, baby..."
