Kai reached out gently and took her in his arms again, setting her back down on his car. "Calm down, sweetheart. I'm not gonna hurt you." He said softly and truthfully, grabbing a first aid kit from the front seat and bandaging her arm. He had a small, protective smile on his face the entire time

Kai didn't expect her words to hit so hard, but then again, she was right. He was a killer and was sent to her as her killer. "Lorelei...Please!" He called, desperation in his voice. "Without me, you're dead! If my gang finds out you're alive, we may as well both be dead by morning. Please, Lorelei. Trust me. I know it's going against every instinct to run and hide or fight me but please. Baby, i'm begging you!" He called after her, running to chase her down. He found her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I promise I won't hurt you, Lorelei. Please, trust me. please." He begged, eyes watering. He didn't know why, but he felt a fierce need to protect her from any harm.

"I don't want you hurt." He said simply, protectiveness and fear for her laced into his voice noticably. "Please, Lorelei. I need you to trust me. If something happens to you, I don't know what-" He cut off, grabbing her wrist and unholstering his gun. He heard footsteps, and not the law enforcement kind. He nearly stopped breathing, watching for an enemy. It wasn't one from either of their families, so it was a stranger- most likely. The person showed themself, lunging at Lorelei. "You bitch!" He yelled, being pinned to the ground by Kai. "Nobody talks to her like that." Kai growled dangerously to the man, putting a bullet through his head. Kai, still pissed at the man, turned with a soft expression to Lorelei. "I promise i'll protect you. I won't hurt you."

"Really? Thank you." He breathed, huffing a sigh of relief. He cupped her cheek gently. "I'll never fail you, I promise" He said, hearing more footsteps. "Will you promise me that you'll not make a sound if I have to fight? Not a word. Please." He pleaded softly, stroking her cheek gently before removing his hand and turning so he had his back to her, sandwiching her gently between him and the tree as protection from her back. Another three men came out of the shadows, wicked and drunk smiles on their faces. "Don't take another step, boys" He growled at them, Kai's hand brushing Lorlelei's leg before taking a step forward as a human shield between them and her. "We just want her, man, you can go." The 'leader' slurred, stumbling toward Lorelei before Kai snapped his neck. Kai raised his pistol at the man who was about to lunge at him. "Not another step." He said, promises of death in his voice. "Hey, man, chill. Wanna catch a couple of beers?" The other man slurred, stumbling toward Kai as well. Kai shot him without a second thought, grappling the second man to the ground as he reached for Lorelei. "Don't. Fucking. Touch. Her." Kai growled, punching the man square in the jaw with every word. Once the man was a bloody, nearly-dead mess, Kai wiped his bloodied knuckles on his pants and turned to Lorelei again. "Are you alright?" He asked, eyes glancing over her protectively. He had a knifeblade stuck in his bicep and a black eye along with lots of blood on his face and black t-shirt
