Duncan nodded, keeping Axels hand right up against his lips as he closed his eyes and fell asleep. The next few weeks went slowly. Duncan had his first treatments and stayed glued to Axels side. It had taken him a while to build up in tolerance to touch again, but now he was doing much better.

Axel smiled softly as he watched Duncan drift off to sleep, only letting himself pass out again once he was sure Duncan was settled and comfortable. The next few weeks he didn't leave his side for anything, doing whatever Duncan needed and wanted. He was working a lot, focusing purely on Duncan, and not himself, but that was alright, he didn't mind at all.

One evening, the two were lying in bed together, Duncan curled up into Axels chest. "...Axel? I've been thinking... with me being sick and all, I want to start living life to its fullest. If I... I just- I don't want to miss out on anything..." he whispered to him.

Axel had just been resting there with Duncan, holding him closely. When he spoke, he peered over at him with a soft hum, nodding along. "Alright," he noted. "What do you want to do that you're not already," he asked, not entirely sure what Duncan meant by that. But he wanted to help him do it.

Duncan shrugged, "I dunno, but like aren't people in their twenties supposed to go out and stuff? Have fun? All I do is sit around... I mean, my siblings got married and had kids in their twenties. I only have occasional make outs with you. I just feel like I'm missing out..."

Axel hummed softly in response and nodded slightly. "Well... probably," he noted. "I'm probably not the one to tell you what normal people in their twenties do," he admitted with a small chuckle. "But if you can convince Kai to let me out and about, we could go try some stuff," he suggested with a shrug.

Duncan bit his lip. "Kai's won't even let me out, not with me being sick and all..." he sighed. "I just feel like I'm going to miss out on so much, especially if I... don't make it..." he whispered.

Axel pursed his lips slightly, nodding slowly. "Have you told him this," he asked gently. "Maybe you could convince him...even if it's him or your sister with you instead of me." He might be more willing to do that. "You'll make it," he added. He had to.

Duncan shook his head. "He won't budge on it, I already know. And I don't wanna do those things without you," he whispered. "We don't know that, Axel..."
| |

Axel nodded, letting out a soft breath. "Then sneak out," he noted with a shrug. "We did it before," he pointed out with a chuckle. At his next comment though, he hummed softly. "I have to believe you'll be alright," he noted.
