Sage sort of let himself lay down flatter into the water, so only his face was above it, his braid floating around him. At remys next comment he frowned slightly, focusing on the gills. "I think so," he noted. He was still just getting used to the extra body parts, he supposed.

Remy smiled and nodded. "Okay, you're going to exhale. When you exhale, make sure you get all the air out of your lungs. It'll feel like you're suffocating for a moment, but flare your gills and suck in with them,"

Sage nodded slowly, making a face. "Should I be under water completely then," he asked, admittedly nervous about it. He trusted Remy but ...well, every instinct in his body was screaming at him not to take in any water. Which really wasn't helping the situation at all.

Remy shook his head. "No, its safer like this so incase you can't get it the first few times, you won't drown,"

Sage sort of frowned in concentration and nodded, taking deep breath and then letting it out, flaring his gills heasitantly at first, but then doing it a bit stronger when he felt the water move through them. A surprised look came over his face, but...at least it was working. Not that he could talk using them, but he glanced over at Remy as if asking what now?

Remy smiled. "There you go, you got it," he chuckled. "Do you know morse code from the military?"

Sage grinned and nodded when he spoke. Of course he knew morse code. Oh....the clicking. Was it just Morse code? That would make it easier to figure out.
| |

Remy smiled, "Thats it," he chuckled. "Okay, to click your gills, trying sucking in really fast but only in one small part of your gills,"

Sage nodded and then worked at making the noises. It took him a few tried, but eventually he got it to where he could consistenly make noises of various pitches and lengths. Then he decided he'd try morse code with it...if remy could understand it, he was good to go. "Can we go to deeper water now," he asked, using the clicks. He had a tail, and lots of energy, and he needed to use both.

Remy smiled, sinking into the water and switching to his gills. "Lets go," he clicked back before swimming off with him.
