Blaise hid in the shadows, being careful to stay quiet and go undetected. He was currently hiding under the rusted remains of an old garbage bin. Most couldn't fit under it but he was so thin that he could. There was currently a small gang nearby and they were what Blaise was banking on. They had managed to kill a wild dog and had roasted it over a fire. All Blaise had to do was wait for them to finish and then when they left he could eat the parts the gang didn't...like the heart and liver, and if he was lucky, bone marrow. His stomach clenched painfully and Blaise willed it not to growl. The last thing he needed was to get his butt kicked for trespassing on this gang's territory.

Luna 'Moony' Allen She sighed softly at the question. "To be honest, I don't really know. It was supposed to be a little knife, like one for medicine and such, but it's not really turning out that way." She looked at the pieces, dissapointed. Edited at June 9, 2024 09:33 PM by Godly Strength

Demeter hummed thoughtfully and rapped her fingers on the table as she studied the pieces. She'd seen pictures of knives in the few medical books they'd collected. How those books had survived so long was beyond her but she was just grateful they still had them. An idea came to her and she hurried off to her personal armory. She returned with an arrow shaft and pulled a knife out of her pocket. "Maybe if we cut a slit in the top of the arrow shaft...and then slide this thin scrap of metal in the cut...and then..." Demeter paused to take the cloth and rip a long, thin strip from it. She wrapped the cloth around the arrow shaft holding the metal scrap to prevent the cut from opening wider and allowing the metal to slide out. It was crudely put together, but maybe it could hold. "You think this could work?" Demeter asked as she held the prototype out.

Luna 'Moony' Allen She looked thoughtfully at it. "Maybe.. it would need thicker cloth. And we'd have to sterilize it all. But yeah, I think this'll work!" She said, a smile creeping onto her face. "Thank you!" She spoke earnestly, looking happily at Demeter.

As the sun began to rise, so did Kai. He stretched and let out a soft moan as he began preparing for the start of his day. First things first, he would head to the garden and ensure everything looked good for the day. He would always check that weeds were pulled and plants were watered before the sun rose too high as he knew from personal experience that gardening in the middle of the day was quite possibly one of the worst punishments to befall anyone. Kai already despised gardening, but at least if he did his share of work early, he wouldn't have to suffer through mid-day heat with the sun bearing down on him. Once he was done in the garden, he'd grab some breakfast. Kai thought about what he would eat. He had a bad habit of eating less than what he needed. When he first came to Haven, he'd eat everything they let him, but over the years, Kai had grown to really care for Haven and gradually ate less and less subconsciously leaving more for everyone else. However, Demeter had began nagging him to eat his fill expressing her concerns over his wellbeing. Kai smiled as he worked. While he genuinely cared for everyone in Haven, Demeter meant more to him than anyone else. He'd be sure to check in with her after he ate, if she wasn't breathing down his neck while he ate that is.

Adrien Atlas Relin 'Phantom' | Rat | M: Bolt | -X- Adrien nodded. That was reasonable he supposed. Adrien walked over to his few items of things, and began taking them and putting them on. Rats didn't have 'things.' They had survival tools. And those, they kept on them at all times. Adrien looked around, eyes searching the small room-like area for four rolls of black wraps. Adrien had stolen them, when the world had begun to go downhill. He found them in his mother and father's private stash, or whatever. And kept them. His eyes spotted the dark fabric, and he walked over to it, picking up a roll and tossing it in the air. He unraveled the strand and began wrapping it around his hand and wrist. He was actually.. really thankful he had these. And he hadn't been thankful for a while. But these, having lived on the streets with him for years, still weren't too torn, and they were rougher, which gave him a better grip. He ended up wrapping his hands/wrists and his feet/ankles with the wraps. Adrien turned back to where Bolt was, grabbing his small bag off the wall he raised an eyebrow. "I can try to get us some smaller trades. We don't want anything to do with stealing today, or just not from gangs?" He asked, studying Bolt's expression. They had been doing this for a while now, they had a pretty good... routine, going. 1st, They'd get up, around the same time every morning. 2nd, they'd discuss trade deals. 3rd, they'd eat a SMALL meal. 4th, they would go out, try not to die, and get some deals. 5th, they'd complete the deals. 6th, they'd try not to die. 7th, after the long day, they would go out, find the tallest building possible, and sort their stuff, from that day. (And 8th, only when feeling extra, steal some supplies or anything sharp from stupid passerby's who think they're all high and mighty.) And it worked for them. Nothing new, nothing odd. They knew how to survive here. That's why they were rats.

{:} Caden Flores 'Cade/Bolt' {:} Rat {:} M: Phantom, Open {:} Cade watched as Phantom wrapped his writs and ankles, he thought for a minute. "We could try splitting up? You could get some trades and I could steal." Cade said it as a statment but knew that Phantom would know it was a question. They hadn't seperated since... the incident. For the couple of weeks they had been wandering together, something that was new and strange for both of them. They were Rats, used to not trusting and sticking to themselves. Now they had learned to stick together, and to be honest, it scared Cade. Cade was used to not relying on anyone, he would steal, run, and hide. He missed stealing. The trades were nice, they provided a small sense of security, something the both of them liked, but stealing was fun for him. He liked the adrenaline rush he got, he liked running, he liked being self sufficent. He watched Phantom closely, Cade had gotten pretty good at reading him. As an after thought Cade added. "But yea, no gangs." Edited at June 10, 2024 10:22 PM by Dusk acres

Demeter smiled softly and patted Moony's shoulder. "Happy I could help. I'll be leaving in a bit. Do you want me to keep an eye out for any particular items today?" It was a question she asked regularly. Most of the time, she never stumbled upon what was requested but she did her best to bring something back for every kid. Like with Kai a couple years ago when he asked for something red. Somehow, she had managed to find a faded red jacket still in decent condition. A little dusty and moth eaten but better than most clothing items she'd seen. And Kai's reaction when he saw it...even if it only happened once in a blue moon, it was worth a few extra hours of searching if Demeter could come home with something the kids wanted.

Adrien Atlas Relin 'Phantom' | Rat | M: Bolt | -X- Adrien thought about it for a moment before his eyebrows furrowed. He really didn't want to split up. That never usually went well. But, he supposed they could both do a bit of stealing today... "Alright. But we both meet up after every steal, ok?" He said, his face shifting back to neutral. He got anxious when away from Bolt for too long. How could he not? Gangs anywhere would die to get their hands on a Rat who was stealing... Adrien looked to the side and sighed quietly. "Alright." He said again with a nod. He moved to the small entrance of the room and looked back at Bolt, eyebrow raised. "You coming?" Adrien asked the other boy.

{:} Caden Flores 'Cade/Bolt' {:} Rat {:} M: Phantom, Open {:} Cade watched Phantom closely and he hated how he saw Phantom's shoulders tense and his face scrunch up. He hated that he knew how to read him. He also hated how anxious he was to be away from Phantom, the two had grown close and rarely spererated. Cade didn't want to become dependent on someone else but at the same time it felt... comforting. Cade nodded at Phantom. "Yeah. We'll meet up at the bottom of this building after every steal. Also how about only quick steals, we don't want to be exposed for longer than we have to." Cade knew that this was just a cover for how he really felt, he didn't want to be away from Phantom for too long because he would worry about him. Cade hated being worried about people, he hated being emotionaly vulnerable. The two walked out of the building. Cade turned around as Phantom was walking away. "Hey Phantom! Be safe, okay?"
