you can use combo ratings to your advantage, especially with gelds. For example, if you have an EWE geld, you could train in the discipline that the horse is W in, as this is a better rating and will usually benefit training

i might keep and use him for jumping then cause i caught a few to geld for comps

I agree :)

Anything less then EEE or PPP is usually better released
Alpine Acres

SPE isn't too bad as you can use the E rating to your advantage and training in jumping (which is the discipline that the horse is E in). Still not the best rating though

aah okay i only have limited money and im sure there abit exy to buy

SSS is decent I thought. Of course I've been gone awhile so yeah

Yeah Lilys right
Alpine Acres

The better the rating, the better the horse should do in that discipline (in most cases). That's why EEE+ gelds can make some good showing money if trained right :)

what about SPE XD
Checkers Catch
03:14:07
Yeah anything less then a PPP rating tends to just be better released
Sagewood Stables
03:14:05
aah okay ill try to only keep PPP then for comps :) thank you
Alpine Acres
03:13:30 Lily
yeah, SSS is generally considered a 'bad' rating. For gelds, you want them to be PPP+ ideally with some E ratings

I've been looking for some tall riding boots and have found this pair. Click I think I really like them, and was just curious if anyone has had any experience with these in particular, or this brand. Or just any general advice on tall boots! Thank you all!

If you want them to last, don't buy them. I had a pair of Horze a few years back, and they did not hold up to consistent use. Horze is a cheap brand in general, and I can almost guarantee these boots are made from artificial leather.
I'm not sure how much you will be using them, for me I wore them every time I rode, about 3-5 times a week at the time. Twice a day maximum, I only had 2 horses then. They were not terribly abused, I dusted them off after every week and cleaned them thoroughly about once every two weeks. Kept them as far away from water as I could. I will say they were incredibly thin, which works well if you need them to stretch.
I really don't have anything good to say about Horze boots, aside from them being cheap.

However, a boot I would recommend would definitely be a baseline Ariat field boot. Most local tack shops will carry them, and will probably have a good deal on them too. I have a pair of the Contour II field boots, got them for $200 at my local tack store. Great quality leather, thick but not too thick. They take a bit to break in, but once you do they're amazing.
If you wanted to go a bit further, I would recommend Tattini. They're my current favorite, so much so that I've sidelined my Ariats. Incredible quality leather, thinner than Ariat but easier to break in, and fits your leg amazingly. Mine have an elastic side panel that allows them to stretch a bit, as I have small ankles but semi big calves. They're beautiful and have held up wonderfully through all the wear and tear I've put them through, including waltzing through paddocks full of puddles. They retail for about $350-400, for the model I have at least (the boxer). However, I got a discount because my grandmother is one of their retailers. I'm sure you could snag a pair for $300.
This is all just my opinion, I'm sure others will have different opinions, and I encourage you to compare them and decide on what is best for you :)

Recommend for good quality on a lower budget:
Mountain Horse, Ariat, Tredstep, DeNiro.
Parlanti are my faves and will last for ages but they're expensive.

The Horze brand WILL NOT hold up. The boots fall apart. I've had 3 pairs all different styles and they are terrible.

Ariats are your best bet.

Horze is a cheap brand mainly aimed at beginners who want to look the part. Honestly, if you want a nice pair of boots that will hold up, go have a look at Dublin, or even Ariat! (A little more on the pricy side, but well worth it if you're going to be riding lots.)
Ariats are great because even though they are very expensive, the boots hold up amazingly and if they dont, you can send them back every year and they'll send you a new pair or refund you! I personally love my dublins, but my mother loves a new pair of boots every year and swears by her ariats lol.
