Pastures vs Barns October 10, 2017 03:46 PM

So I'm planning to expand my stables and I'm wondering if it would be better to buy a bunch of pastures or a bunch of barns. I was thinking of putting all the horses I'm gunna FR into a pasture so I don't have to buy feed for them, and maybe moving all my geldings into pastures as well.

Are there any pros/cons to having all your horses in pastures? Would it be better to have them all in pastures, all in barns, or a mix of both?

Thanks in advance, sorry for all the questions I just wanna make sure before I spend all my money lol! c:

I personally think pastures are better:

Pros
.You don't have to buy feed
.

Cons
.You shouldn't fill them all up as they eat the grass and the pasture goes barren so you have to start feeding them again
.You have to buy more pastures/have less horses than the amount of pasture
.Buy water unless you want to wait a while for the pasture to regenerate grass.

I was too busy thinking about cons and not pros, sorry.

This is helpful, thank you!!
I didn't realize pastures had to regenerate, but it makes sense lol. Do you think the cost of buying water would outweigh the cost of buying feed? Not being able to fill up a pasture makes me question buying too many though

You don't have to buy water. Just plant hay and when you harvest the hay 12 days later, the pasture is "regenerated".
