@Versa, that is not avian flu. That comes from moldy feeders.

If it's not avian flu, maybe the heatwaves are throwing off their migrations.

I DO know I've seen some sick hummingbirds, but I suspect these are cases of neighbours not cleaning their feeders. The tongue swells up and the hummingbird can't drink... :(

@Versa, yeah it makes sense. UT is known for their water birds though especially with the great salt lake.

The struggle is if it spreads to the flying flocks. Then the bigger warnings go around. It's not that it primarily affects water birds, as much as it is the water birds aren't really interacting with the other species, if that makes sense

@Versa, that is my understanding, yes. I am in UT and you are way over in TN though.

Wolf,
Other than the fit it has thrown, it's... Doing hand things I guess, functioning as I'd hope while screeching about it angrily. LOL

Ahhh, so you were told to worry about water birds probably because that's what's currently sick in your area. Over here, there's major warnings of avian flu going around and it's suggested feeders are taken down entirely. So it's chill over there, currently

@Versa, I thought about taking my feeder down, but was told in my area to only worry about water birds at the moment. I haven't refilled it anyways though since I hardly see any visitors, but that is typical for summer.

Hummingbirds are considered to be low risk for avian flu.

I'm willing to bet avian flu has something to do with it, sadly.

I'm curious if there would be any interest in a wolf shifter (vs. vampire) story via a small 3-4ish person RP group?

.

I'm a very laid back, semi-lit RPer looking for like company. I would appreciate finding others who are able to commit to a long term, but slow paced story that would have more of a focus on the action at hand, rather than letting romance (given that there is any) take the spotlight. I try to be descriptive with my writing which leads my replies to fall in the 300-500 word range, however, when motivation strikes, I will write 2000+ words at random, but I will never expect that in return from my partners. Honestly, I have no word minimum requirement as long as you are engaged and following along, but please, no 3 liners, I beg of you.

.

*When I say long term and slow paced, I mean that just simply any chance you get to write a post you do so, whether its once daily, weekly, etc. Life happens and I'm no stranger to it myself. I have Rps on my other account that have been going on for nearly a year but my partner and I have taken time away for weeks or months inbetween as needed.

.

Lore and further backstory/plot are to be provided if this ends up turning into a RP but basically the bones are as follows:

A small fishing town nestled in the quiet wilderness caressing the majestic peaks of the black ridge mountains has roots that date back to the town's founding centuries before. However, with a population under five thousand, this isn't a town you move to, it's one you move away from in search of anything more than mundane routine and well, fishing. One good thing about it however is the fact that the original families in this town are tight knit and have formed a very close, safe community in which the youth can galavant about without worry of running into dangers. Everyone looks out for each other and are no strangers to extending a helping hand or initiating group gatherings as often as desired. The elders of this quaint village are well diversed in the rich (and rather controversial) history of the beloved community and will take any opportunity to tell their stories and bestow knowledge on the next generations. The only problem is … many of the stories contain elements of the supernatural that lead many to believe that maybe there is something in the water that gets into your head after so many years. I mean come on, vampires? Magical shape shifting tribes people? No way. It’s definitely hard to believe until the first of them shifts for the very first time out of the blue. If the stories are correct, then that means there is a new threat challenging to destroy the very existence of this quiet little town and everyone in it. The shifters must quickly learn how to control their new abilities, learn to get along in their new order, and strengthen themselves in order to take on this new enemy ... if they can even find it first.

.

I feel like an important point to mention is that the wolves would be the main focus of this RP and the vampires would be more like NPCs since the end goal is the destory them (unless someone really wanted to play a vamp character that will cease to exist at some point)
