(its okay :] ) ~ Phantom listened silently to West her eyes slowly filled up with tears listening to his story "I.. I know you probably don't want pity but I'm sorry that that happened to you..." She wiped her newly formed tears away on her leg "But I'm impressed.. I mean you didn't let that broken leg slow you down..." She paused trying to carefully say her words "Most horses can't get past a broken leg but you have your own herd, your strong as hell I mean you really are a real life Hercules"

West knew that would happen. Now Phantom was sad... he shook his head with a snort, trying to forget the memory. He tipped his head slightly as she said she was impressed. They did comfort him.. slightly. "Thanks... I guess a good thing did come out of that. Menace thought I would die for a couple reasons. As you said, most horses can't get past a broken leg. Also, I couldn't run away. Any wild animal that decided they wanted a snack could have killed me easily. Even now, as you see... I'm still very slow. The leg still hurts me. That's why I stumble on the landing when I jump, and why I can't go too fast. I was the fastest horse in the herd before that... and I wasn't born with this much muscle. I was actually quite slim, more like your build. Perfect for running. When Menace broke My leg he ruined it so I couldn't run anymore... and the reason I a, so strong is because horses are fight or flight. Since I could not flight... I hád to fight. I got stronger and stronger, doing weird stuff like running up hills and jumping really far to improve my strength... so that any time a wild animal came after me, I could fight it off instead of running." West explained a few things which he was sure Phantom had questions to... he was a pretty secretive horse, overall. He waited To see what her reaction would be.

Phantom's impression of West got better as she listened, there was a lot more to him than what was on the surface "I always just figured with all that muscle it was hard for you to run but that makes more sense now.." That's all she could think of to saw she was speechless and impressed by West "I also think what you went through makes you a really strong horse obviously physically and mentally, you were meant to survive that and hopefully karma got to your brother.." She looked at West unsure if that comment about his brother would upset him

|
West snorted. "The muscle is the only thing that enables me to run. Believe me.. if I was still that skinny little foal and I somehow made to this age, alive... I wouldn't be doing any running." He flicked his ears and listened to what she said. He flinched slightly about what she said about his brother... but not because it was mean. "Well... a very small percentage of my existence is devoted to going and finding my brother and making him pay for what he did to my herd..." he said slowly. He looked slightly sad. "And yes... I'm not the very caring horse I try to be on the outside..."

Phantom flicked her ears "I also don't think any mare would follow you in a herd.. I think any normal horse would want to take revenge on something like that and also I'm not really surprised every horse has mean side whether they choose to hide it or not" She gazed up at West "Thank you for telling me that.. even if I'm not the best comforter I hope it at least helped talking about it" She smiled softly

|
West nodded. It didn't exactly help to think about it.. but at least Phantom knew now. She would probably start realizing he was a mean horse and drifting away.. but she knew the truth now. He didn't want to be the horse with the mean side... but West knew he couldn't get rid of it. He just hoped he could keep it in check at least long enough that he got so old he couldn't hurt Menace anyway. Or until he died. Both would be fine. West shook his and again and looked at Phantom. "Well thanks for listening to my rambling. I'd better go check on something." He nodded curtly and strode away quickly, up and outs of the valley... after he made sure everyone was doing okay

Phantom gazed at West "Of course I'll listen to you ramble anytime" Sh watched him walk away after a few minutes of laying down she decided to try and stand up. She winced as her leg was still in pain but she able to bear the pain of outting pressure on it, she hobbled over to the lake to get something to drink. She couldn't help but think about West, could he really have a mean bone in his body... he even was nice to stallions that came in his way.. she would just have to see it to believe it

West was angry.. he was angry that nothing was going right, angry that everyone just kept getting hurt, angry he couldn't help anyone... and angry about what his brother did. He just cantered out of the valley, only stopping when he lnewnif he got much farther it would be hard for him to get back in a hurry. He found a thick tree and slammed his shoulder against it, over and over till his shoulder turned raw and bled. West took a deep, shuddering breath and wished everything could Be normal. That he could be a normal stallion with a normal herd... but that would never happen. He felt sadness filling him, replacing the anger. West could never stay angry for long... the longest he ever stayed angry was when Menace killed his mother, and even then he was only angry for a day. After that it was just sadness, depression, and determination. He closed his eyes for a moment and walked back to the valley, reappearing and walking down to the shade of a tree, laying down slowly and not getting back up. He put his head on the ground after making sure everyone was okay.

Phantom looked up seeing West walk into the valley he looked worse than when he left, she couldn't help but feel like it was her fault asking him to talk about it. She snorted getting a bit mad at herself, she glanced back over at West wanting to go see if he was alright. She decided against it he probably would just want some alone time, and she wouldn't know what else to do after all she is only good at listening
