As it slowly grew darker, West slowed his pace, finally dropping into a walk. He found a shaded spot that wasn't in an open area, but also not super concealed, so if anything snuck up on them he'd be able to see it. He stopped at a low hanging tree and turned to Dixie. "How's your leg holding up so far?" West asked, worry trickling into his tone

Dixie almost ran into his hand when he slowed down. "It's holding up really well!" She tested it a little more before giving it a break. After so long of almost no mobility, she was itching to move no matter what that looked like. Half the time she was bucking and running around the field like a madwoman. She bumped West with her muzzle before dropping herself down in the shaded area. She relaxed her ears as she nibbled at some grass

West nodded, a bit relieved. He didn't want this trip to hurt her. Honestly, if he could tell she was in pain, he'd probably turn around and head right back home. He shook his pelt and grazed a little before watching the sun finish sinking below the horizon. He then walked over to Dixie and laid down near her. West mineswell get rest while he still could- he wanted to get up bright and early to continue looking for Mystery.

Dixie laid her head over his back, finally slipping into a restful sleep. This was her normal: lay down first, lay her head over West when he finally laid down, THEN fall asleep. She almost always woke up first, and today was no different. She woke up as soon as the sun started to peek up through the trees. She lifted her eyes to scan the area but kept her head over him

West glanced at Dixie with a soft smile before he himself laid his head down and slid into darkness. In the morning, a little while after the sun peaked over the horizon, he opened his eyes with a soft sigh before raising his head slightly. He could already tell Dixie was awake, big surprise.

Dixie smiled "morning sunshine" she softly rubbed her head on his back like she always did

|
West blinked a couple times to completely wake up. "Morning..." He answered quietly, as subdued as he usually was in the morning. He shifted slightly to make sure he didn't smack her head, then stood and shook his mane. "We should get going as soon as possible... the sooner we find Mystery the better." He commented, having worried all night, even when he was sleeping.

|
Dixie pulled herself up when he did, stretching before taking a few steps forward. "Ok" she said as she lowered her head for a quick munch "I just need to fuel up before we go" she chopped some of the grass with her teeth, yanking harder peices out of the earth and shaking off the dirt and roots

|
West nodded, walking a little ways away before listening. He heard the slight gurgle of water to his right, finding a very small stream, barely up past his hooves but enough to drink from. He lowered his head and drank before eating a couple bites of grass, though his appetite wasn't much.

Dixie trotted past him to trot through the puddle of a stream. She lowered her head to drink, sloshing the water everywhere in the process. "Sorry. I LOVeE water!" She stomped her hoof, giggling at the splash it resulted in
