Sage didn't talk very much, he just...worked alongside her. They knew each other well enough to work silently. It wasn't an awkward silence, but there also just wasn't much to talk about. They were worried, but talking wouldn't do much good. So, they worked comfortably beside each other until the meal was made. Sage grabbed a few containers so they could bring it upstairs, something they never really did. But he supposed it would be good for them right now.

Mari grabbed the containers once they'd made it all up, and wandered upstairs mindlessly to put them down next to the children. She just stood there for a while, her mind blank befor eventually turning back to her own room, going to get showered and into something comfortable before just sitting down. What was she meant to do now? How could she fix anything? Their kids were scared, and rightfully so too. So was she. She didn't even know what Sage was thinking, agreeing to see what he could find out. If anyone figured it out they'd be in danger - more than they already were.

Sage had settled on with the kids, playing some games with them until they'd calmed down enough for him to put them both to bed. They seemed happier, but he did tell them if they needed either of their parents to come and get them, even if it was over night. Then he moved to his own bedroom, getting ready quickly and settling down in bed to wait for Mari, giving her some alone time as she showered.

Mari showered fairly quickly, unfortuantely not feeling much better at all. She'd hoped it would help her relax or... something. Nope, nothing. She got out faily grumpily, and wandered tierdly towards the bedroom, getting changed and eventually sitting down in the bed. She didn't think she could sleep just yet... she still felt on edge. So, she just settled down and moved to grab a book off the side table.

Sage sort of just lay around lazily as he waited for Mari, moving to curl up next to her when she grabbed the book. He'd gotten better over the years, but he still wasn't great at reading. But he was perfectly content to just lay there with her for a while. He was tired, but he'd had a good nap too, so he didn't drift off right away. It was just nice to cuddle a bit before passing out, he supposed. Now that Mari was picking up tavern shifts and such, they'd had less time for that. So it was nice to just lay around like this for a bit.

Mari layed quietly in the bed, reading for at a least another two hours. She looked down at Sage, who did look tired. She furrowed her brows slightly, and gently patted his side. "Go to sleep," she mumbled, resting her head back against the headboard. They'd had a busy day... and she was still full of anxiety about the whole thing. She couldn't relax at all, and she was still worried about the kids being alone. It was a little while longer before she eventually forced herself out of bed, padding into the room Liz and Silas had both curled up in. It made sense that they didn't want to be alone, and she didn't want them by themselves either. She pulled a chair next to their bed, and just found herself... watching them. They were sleeping so peacefully, just the way Sage did - they looked less worried, at least.

Sage had sort of been drifting in and out of that half awake half asleep stage when Mari patted him, and he grunted in response, knowing she was right. He shifted around so he was still curled up but in a more comfortable position to sleep in, drifting off after a few moments. It wasn't like he wasn't worried ...he was ...he'd just learned to sleep wherever and whenever long ago. Some of those old habits he did still keep, for good reason.

Mari sat there until about three am the next morning, the time seeming to go hyper speed around her. Her heart was still thumping in her chest with every shadow that passed the window, and she could still hear shouting from downstairs even if she knew it wasn't there. She needed to do... something. Anything, really, she found herself downstairs in her nightgown, trying to tidy up more, trying to occupy her mind. She sorted the cabinates and found what little food that hadn't been ruined, putting it all to the front of the cabinates. She'd go out the next day and... oh! She needed a list. Things to pick up. The kids would be in school... no, no, they'd be staying right here the next day. She wanted them at home. She needed to check on her mother and siblings, too. Maybe they could come over for a bit. Yeah, that'd be good.

Sage had woken up relatively early the next morning, pushing himself up with a groan when he realized Mari wasn't there. He had expected her to be up and about already, but still ...it did worry him. She hadn't slept at all, and judging by her side of the bed, she hadn't even stayed in bed for very long after he'd passed out. He got up with a sigh, grabbing a blanket to wrap around him and wandered downstairs, definitely still groggy. He found Mari in the kitchen, and wandered in her direction, wishing he knew how to help her.

Mari buzzed around the house for a long while, getting washing done, clearing out. She'd managed to make a fairly decent breakfast up, too. Well, all considering, anyway. She'd set the table up for everyone by the time she'd heard Sage walking downstairs, and when she saw him from the corner of her eye, she pointed towards the table for him, bringing some water over in a jug and pouring him a glass. "I think I'm gonna invite my mother over to watch the kids today while I...." she paused for a moment, looking back over at him. "Can You make sure those bodies are completely out of sight and... oh, I'm gonna go shopping today. Before my shift. I might take Liz with," she breathed quickly, planning everything she could out.
