Sage let out a soft breath as she spoke, knowing she was upset and probably stressed beyond what was even remotely healthy. "It was either the floor or the wall," he noted softly. "Apparently, my instincts chose the floor," he added with a grumble. When she left, he glanced up briefly with a slight frown. He'd liked her being there...her presence made everything feel safer somehow. But he supposed he couldn't just ask her to sit at his bedside...they had kids and her mother was here, and he knew Anthony and Xander popped in now and again to check in. He bit his lip and went back to drawing, trying to ignore the imaginary blood he could now hear dripping into the floor.

Mari let out a gentle breath once she'd left, and eventually found her way back towards the kids. She'd felt like she'd been neglecting them a little recently... and although they seemed okay in themselves, it hurt her to even think of. So, she eventally just sighed and wandered off to find them, hoping to entertain them for a long while. Anthony checked in, and just let them know that the house seemed okay, the horses were all fine and Amber was... very pregnant. She just hoped that Sage would be okay enough in time to go see her. Either way, Anthony soon left and she went back about her business of seeing to the kids.

Sage sort of just drew for as long as he was able. He'd gotten involved with it pretty quickly, and while the woman's face made his gut clench in a rather uncomfortable way and his pulse to jump around like it had just had its own cup of coffee he managed to get a good way through the portrait before he dozed off. He was still sitting up, leaning against the pillows on the headboard, pencil still in hand and drawing resting lightly on his lap. He'd just frown tired, he supposed.

Mari stayed for a little while, admittedly rather exhausted with everything. It was all so draining, trying to make sure the kids were all good and that Sage was... sane just seemed to take everything out of her, especially since she wasn't sure that any of them were okay, not really anyway. She soon found herself slugging back towards the ward, just to find Sage asleep. She sighed, moving to take the drawing from him, unable to help but look at it... god. She wasn't sure what she'd expected, but he'd done a good job it. She just shook her head and moved it aside, taking the pen from him and putting it away before sort of moving to help him lay down without waking him and tucking him in.

Needless to say, sage hadn't noticed Mari come in, so when he woke a few hours alter tucked in bed, he sort of blinked, admittedly rather confused. He noticed Mari sitting nearby though, so he could only assume shed gotten him settled. He hummed a soft greeting to her, shifting to sit up a bit more. He noticed the drawing on the side table, with the pencil he'd been using, and bit his lip, heasitating for a moment before reaching to pick it up again. "The kids alright," he asked softly as he started working again. "And all the animals?"

Mari offered a small smile when she'd eventually noticed Sage waking up again... she was exhausted still, having not slept, but she was glad to see him at least awake. She nodded when he asked about the kids, though, blowing out a soft breath. "Everyone is ok," she whispered, her brows pinching together gently. "Amber is gonna pop soon," she continued, not moving from her spot on the chair.

Sage nodded when she mentioned everyone was alright, and he chuckled softly with a nod when she mentioned Amber. "Maybe we should have Anthony bring her here," he noted with a frown. "I don't want her to go into labor and need help with no one there," he added. He was admittedly a little anxious about it....she wasn't super young anymore, and he was getting nervous about it. It wouldn't hurt to cart her down here just so he could keep an eye on her, would it? Of course, he noted the heaviness in Mari's voice, and gestured for her to come to the bed. "You look exhausted," he noted softly. "Take a nap or something," he added. "I just woke up, I'll be fine for a while. So will the kids." She needed rest, or she wouldn't be able to help anyone.

Mari shook her head slightly when he mentioned bringing the animal over. It's wasn't a good idea to take her out of the place she was comfortable in, just to bring her to a busy castle where everyone was visibly stressed. If something did go wrong, which it might, it probably would just make things worse. "Nope. You've just gotta get better so you can get back home," she murmured, giving a little stretch. "I'll go check up on her at some point. She probably has another week or two left," she continued. The kids would want to see her too, and the horses for that matter. But, Xander and her brother were there for the time being, so if anything went wrong they were around. Her brows furrowed when he said she should go have a nap, and just shook her head. She didnt think she could sleep, really. She hadn't been able to for the last few days now, not much, and she was constantly worrying about Sage to relax. But, she supposed, a bit of time alone just to relax would be incredible. So, she just grumbled something before standing up and waddling off, attempting to find a book or something she could read out in the gardens.

Sage huffed out a sort of breath when Mari mentioned not bringing the cat here. He nodded though, knowing if she still had a week or two he'd likely be back home before then. He sighed when she said she didn't need to sleep and just wandered off though, flopping back on the headboard, brows pinching together. He could tell she was worried, and stressed, and just hadn't been sleeping well. But....she needed the rest. They all needed her, and she couldn't help them much if she was half asleep or passed out somewhere. There wasn't anything he could do about it though, so he just went back to drawing, trying to take his mind off of everything.

Mari found her way into the gardens having sought a book from the library, eventually just flopping down somewhere quiet out the back. There wasn't anyone around, but she couldn't even focus on the words she was supposed to be reading. There was too much going on in her head, and it really wasn't long until it formed into a throbbing headache. This was all so... scary. There had been strangers in their house. They'd broken in, and they'd taken the one person she just couldn't live without. They'd used him and tortured him in unimaginable ways, and she hadn't been there to help him - hell, when she did show up they'd just shot him. They'd been so close to loosing him. The doctor was still walking on egg shells when working with him, scared one wrong move would be the end of the boy. She didn't even think he knew how close he'd been to dying. He hadn't seen all the blood - he hadn't seen the marks on his back, or how the yoke had sunk into his shoulders. He hadn't seen how frantically everyone around him had been working just to keep him around. Alive. She was still so worried about him, and she didn't even think he knew it. She was starting to resent it, just a little. Eventually she just chucked the book to the side and pulled her knees up to her chest, burying her nose into her legs just trying to process it all. There hadn't been a moment where she'd actually been able to tell Sage how bad it was. She didn't even know if she wanted him to understand it. She stayed that way for a good half hour, just running through her thoughts until she heard the guards uniform clicking at a distance, and pulled herself out of her thoughts and forced herself to stand up and wander out towards the castle. She made a bit of food as she normally did, taking some to the kids and her mother before wandering slowly to Sages room, entering silently and popping the tray on the side. She glanced over at him and tried a smile, her head cocking ever so slightly. "How's the drawing coming along?" she asked softly.
