Yesterday, I made the difficult decision to put my beloved cat Oliver down. At the beginning of the year he was diagnosed with gallbladder issues and despite thousands of dollars in treatment and diagnostics he never seemed to recover.
I was taking him to the vet every month for episodes vomiting and decreased appetite. We tried antibiotics, prescription food, medications, and more. I was optimistic he would get better, and he frequently would, only to get sick again a couple weeks later.
He wasn't miserable, but he wasn't thriving either and I was running out money from trying the same treatments over and over hoping something would change this time around. It feels unfair because I only had the opportunity to love him for a year and 4 years old he should of had a long life ahead of him. I feel jaded because this is the 2nd cat I have lost earlier than is to be expected. It hurts to love something so deeply and then lose it.

So sorry for your loss. I think many of us can understand this pain. Would you like to share some favorite memories of Oliver? I would love to hear them if so. -Red

I'm so, so sorry. You really loved him and he was so well cared for and it's devastating when these things happen. Take comfort in knowing he was so, so lucky to have someone like you to make the right decision when the time came, and to care for him until that time <3
