Our bluebirds came back today! Yay! The male was there too, notice his little feets in the doorway.

We also had a new guest! I THINK this is a male, but definitely it is a house sparrow! <3

Another new visitor! Super excited about this little one, appears to be a chickadee! One of my favourite birds.

Out of the the blue birds, sparrow, and chickadee I hope the chickadees stick around and make a nest!

Ohhh, me too! Could you imagine little baby chickadee chirps? I bet it'd be so sweet!

Update on all the birds! I saw all of the individuals this morning <3

Both of the bluebirds were here! The male and the female. It's getting to be around the time that bluebirds start nesting, so perhaps soon they'll nest? <3

I also saw the chickadee! I think there might actually be more than one. Yay! I heard multiple of them singing this morning, although visually, it's dang near impossible to tell them apart.

Chickadees have sensitivities to UV that we do not. Individuals, especially of separate genders, reflect UV off of their feathers differently, which is how they differentiate gender. They can also identify each other through singing.

Fun fact: I learned while taking my avian courses, that the chickadee call sounds like they're saying cheeseburger!

Saw the chickadee last a couple of days ago, I think he/she didn't like the rain so much lol
