"I love you........more," He managed to say before drifting off. Whether it was from exhaustion, pain, or poison, I can't say. No idea which one. All Gale will remember is melting into Kayla's embrace, the pain, and the quiet stillness nobody disturbed of where Sage rested.

Kayla felt him go limp, the tension leaving his body and she tipped her head back against the tree. She had never needed to find some sort of emotional or mental strength like this, her love broken and bloody in her arms, but she did now.

Gale was passed out, staying limp throughout the entire night, body a flame with marks. He didn't even wake when the sun rose, that's a first for sure.

Kayla traced some of his old scars, waiting patiently

Gale awoke finally, still in Kayla's arms. "Morning," he croaked, voice rough as he felt her tracing his scars. The man sat up with a groan, brushing his arm off, wincing.

"Morning. Feel any better at all?"
| |

"Nope, feel like shit." He muttered, the mental and physical toll having felt like it'd multiplied since the previous day. "Simple plan for the next month, find Hugh, get camp back together, get Dutch out of prison, go back to normal, simple."

"And somewhere figure out how to take care of....this" She said gesturing to his wounds
| |

Gale chuckled, wincing as he started coughing, body racking as he coughed up some blood. "That's no good," He muttered, straightening again.
| |

"Ya think?" She muttered, her protective-side showing itself a bit as she huffed at him
