Yep Fanta, basically you just set them back a year.

Lol Angels I enjoy my last day of the month selections to decide order and items for the morning haha

It is such a waste to let them sit around. Why have them and not use them?

I use 2 embryos per year, moreless xD and I get way more than I use so the list always increases.

That's not what I'm asking, thank you though! I was wondering how exactly to get into a schedule like Min has been explaining

I still can not understand how people don't use their embryos immediately. Not only am I impatient but it seems like a waste

Thank you so much! So they had one year when the didn't have any foals, is that right?

You cannot prioritise all the embryos you get in a single year. So you start collecting them :D I have 83 at the moment

If you already have embryos made you can use them at any time if that is what you are asking. It doesn't mater if the mare has been bred or what.
Minerva
12:40:15 Min
Yep basically. So I went a year only using old embryos, and now im on a cycle of making them for next month and still having 8+ to use every RO. It does mean you'll be using a mare's last embryos after she retires and Im not sure whether that affects LBs while she's on them. Id definitely recommend giving it a go though, its made life so much less stressful haha

...Okay, I think that makes sense. I think I get it now. So I either have to wait until next next RO to get more embryos, or save the ones from this RO and then get into the schedule that you're doing. I hope that's right and makes sense?
Minerva
12:35:05 Min
If you breed her to a stallion naturally, you can't do any embryos (or if you've done 1st embryo you can't put her to a stallion)
Minerva
12:34:16 Min
It would be the 4th for the second but yes. And as long as the "bred this year" is only up because embryos have been used then youre fine. So I used 3 embryos from one of my mares immediately after RO, then did her first embryo on the 2nd I think, then she had her second done last week when I did the firsts for the others. So she's had 2 embryos made this year and 3 live foals on the ground

So if I create the first one on the 1st, I can make the 2nd one on the 3rd?

And how is it possible to pull embryos from mares when they've already technically bred that year? Do you just have to miss a year for that to work?
Minerva
12:29:59 Min
Its only creating embryos that has a time and number limit- you can use as many as you like whenever you like

Question:
If the mare has already bred this year but you're doing embryos on RO, how exactly does that work? You just have to wait three days before doing the second one?
Minerva
12:26:55 Min
Although I rarely plan matches, just find the best stud at whatever moment I suddenly remember to do them lol. Any time ive planned matches I forget within 5 minutes and discover it when its too late

Does anyone know where you can buy the cheapest UlcerGard possible? Or get it for a reasonable price? My lease horse has had it for the last 3 days, so I need to buy 3 tubes of it. For anyone who has bought it, it says 4 doses on the box; are there 4 syringes or 4 doses per tube? We've been giving my horse 1 full tube of it every morning (as directed by a professional), so I'm curious to know. Thanks so much!

You'll probably have to shop around in your area to see if anywhere is a few dollars cheaper, but unfortunately UlcerGard is not cheap anywhere in the US. You can buy omeprazole (active ingredient in UlcerGard) online in doses sufficient to cure ulcers for cheaper from "underground" sort of pharmacies based overseas, but you won't be able to guaruntee the quality of what you're buying. I know some people who have gone that route, saved money, and gotten good results, but I can't necessarily recommend it to everyone.
If you are trying to cure ulcers, then you will need to give your horse one whole tube of UlcerGard or GastroGard per day. Either of those tubes has 2 grams of omeprazole in the entire thing. (2g is the minimum effective dose for horses.) If you are giving UlcerGard as a maintenance drug to prevent ulcers, then 1/4 tube of UlcerGard is sufficient per day.

Yeah, I will definetly keep looking, it's definetly expensive haha - that makes a lot more sense with the dosing; thank you so much!

I currently give her U-Guard powder, and it works well for her as well! :) We treated her for ulcers a month ago. She is on a bunch of bute right now (Friday-Sunday she will be on it) to help us find a source of her pain if possible so she just needs UlcerGard/GastroGard for now. Thank you!

Have you tried Gut X? It's still a little expensive (around $100 depending where you get it from), but it comes in a gallon jug with a pump that should last around 3 months, but it works well for our horses when they get ulcers and helps prevent them
