I got a new boy for my birthday, in september! He is a 23 y/o grey gelding, grandson of Scotch Bar Time. he has a bit of inbreeding, but *shrug*. He is 16 hands, and is built like a thoroughbred. He is super sweet, and I have a show in 9 days, but he's been lame the last couple of days, from what we think is an abcess. So i might not be able to compete. Which is sad, but prayers for him to get better :) |

Ahhh hoping he pops it quick! My horse was dead lame with an abscess a week before a show and popped it just in time for us go. Scotch sounds lovely |

That must've been very stressfull! I hope it pops soon! We are trying to find a new name that suits him (his name right now is Cowboy), because when we think of cowboys we think of someone tough or brave. And hes a big softy. Any suggestions would be great :) |

I would have the vet come dig through his hoof. I have a gelding that gets abscesses and he needs them dug out all the time. And if you just get the vet out and dig through it it will get better quicker. |

This may be late, but I'd suggest soaking the hoof in Epsom salts. I've heard that that works wonders. My friend has a horse that always gets abscesses, and she uses that. Here's some info: |
