Experience comes into play in jump off /tie breaker. Which is why its nice when horses end up with riders at higher levels than them, because they will have higher experience.

I keep my riders up to date. Not red riders. I am just trying to keep my riders to a minumu but is it worth firing a rider with a lot of ecperience because the other riders can cover the current horses in your barn? Or would you keep him becaue you have younger horses coming up?

This decision is up to you and your gameplay. Just to think about it: When a rider shows up in red, it means the horse leveled up before the rider. But this just leveled horse will need some more weeks of training anyways, before it will be able to compete again. And just for training purpose it would not be as important as for showing, if the rider is at a lower level than the horse.

So you are saying to fire a driver that has 1400 experience and just hire a new rider with 0 experience when he levels up? Why have experience levels. I am not understanding it. seems like those numbers would have meaning

No, they're saying the opposite of that. Keep rider with experience so your horses will have the advantage in shows.
