i understand your concerns. i've answered people questions to the best of my ability right now. honestly, im going to start with 10 acres. and 2 horses. breeds that i know and understand. a kiger mustang from a breeder, and a mustang from the blm. im guessing that will total out at 7k. for the tack: im going to be getting second hand/used tack that is still in good condition. im going to have people helping me aswell. i know the property is going to be the most expensive, at least 800k.
My Steps:
1, buy the property
2, collect refurbished materials for the tiny house
3, once the covid-19 pandemic dies down, go to the property and build the house
4, buy 2 horses
5, gain more experience about owning horses
6, re-evaluate if i want to get more horses or not yet

Still confused at where you are going to get this money from if you don't have a paying job? Not trying to demolish your dreams ot anything but we just font want you to make a mistake and get in years of debt or something like that, this is a huge commitment, I'm not sure you understand how big of a commitment it is

Building the house alone is going to cost anywhere from several tens of thousands of dollsrs to a few hundred thousand, depending on hourly cost for the buildings, plumber, electrician, not to mention the cost of getting a well drilled, getting a well house built, etc.

There's also the cost of fencing and the supplies for that, barns, etc.

oak and eury
this is still the first draft of the plan <3
my mother is the main person helping. we are saving up together. when i mentioned my work with mustangs, it was so people didnt think i was totally clueless. my father also owes at least a million dollars in child support and promises. haha that will definitly help. actually, i like all the critiscm, it makes me think more about how i should shape and remold my plan

..Speaking from experience, you're not likely to see that back owed child support.

You say you're going to start with 10 acres, but you want 25 in the end. How is that going to work? You're going to buy a 10 acre property, build your house there and set up your small stable there, but then move out a few years after that to purchase a 25 acre ranch? That is going to cost you even more.

You want to get a BLM mustang? Do you have years of experience training and breaking horses who have never been broken, ridden, handled much, etc.? That is a huge project to take on. BLM mustangs are often not socialized and handled much before they're adopted out, and you would need to make sure you're handling them and breaking them in correctly so you don't outright ruin the horse, that would just be unfair to the horse.

Do you have thousands of dollars put aside for emergency vet expenses? Like I said, what if a horse has a medical emergency and needs surgery or something to that degree? That would be a huge cost and you can't just leave the horse to wither away.

Where is the money to pay for this entire idea going to come from? You've got to pay for the ranch, purchasing the horses, vet bills, farrier bills, hay and grain, equine dentistry, water, electricity, bedding, tack, a trailer, the other animals, etc.

These are all things you need to think about. Not trying to hinder your plans and goals by any means, just making sure you understand what a big commitment this is :)

idle... i work with BLM mustangs.
it will be a tiny house on wheels, so it can easily be transported.
eury i know what you mean. my father reached out for the first time in 5+ years. he is starting to send the money. i cant fully trust that hes going to pay it off, but at least its a start
im not buying the property yet! we dont have enough money raised yet. this idea is just the rough sketch of it

You work with BLM mustangs, yes. But do you have experience breaking and training one on your own? Because that's what you'd be doing if you had your own ranch. Your trainer or whoever you work with is not going to follow you around and help you with every little thing.

Have you ever even owned a horse? Or even leased one? If you never have, that's not a good sign if you're jumping into buying an entire ranch.

You also haven't answered my question about emergency vet bills... do you have thousands of dollars at the ready Incase a horse had a medical emergency?

How much money do you have saved so far? 1 million is a LOT of money that most people only dream of.

You're also going to need to get a good paid job, that money isn't going to last long with your plans, you're going to need a job which pays good, so you're probably going to need qualifications for that. What are you currently studying? Are you at college or University etc.?
If you get two horses you're going to need to watch because they either, won't like each other or two gets on so well with each other that they can't be separated else they get seperation anxiety, once they have that it makes it very hard to do your normal stuff or try to separate them, which then makes you and the horses more stressed which isn't fair on either of you.

idle
yeah. that is pretty much...a dream. i think right now, i have 200k saved up. its going to take awhile
i probably will pay a trainer to help with breaking, someone who has more experience in that department
for the medical bills: are you talking about diegestion problems and such? or a farrier? or just in general
my mother is actually learning how to be a farrier, and im throwing myself into this headfirst. i understand people are worried about the care/safety of the horses, and thats why you have so many questions and concerns. i feel the same way about dogs, specifically huskies as i own one
