I think some people do put it on top. Mixed up weetabix is the most horrendous texture though haha. They brought out some weetabix shakes years ago and they were vile. No idea if they still make them

5 sherpa maps are 150k if bought from the store, so if you total everything you're only like 7k down. Plus obviously youve got 100 new horses, which could be FR for 20k credits even if youve hit the cap.

Rosco's birthday was on the 23rd. Baby boy is finally a yearling! Had him wear a couple hats to celebrate lol.

We finally set up a vet appointment. On April 1st, he will officially become a gelding. Yearly check-up time hasn't been made yet, but we plan to get the vet out again for that in April or May.

The girls haven't been doing work these last few days. I don't trust the trails very much yet and the field is too wet. Fingers crossed that my dad will make the arena soon so we don't have to worry about this anymore.

Couple new things.

The first new foal of the season has arrived at the rescue. I haven't gone to see her in person yet but I know she's a two week old chestnut pony. If I'm not mistaken, her name is Lana. She has been bonded to Tiara, a lovely gaited Morgan nurse mare that the "rescue lady" owns (fun fact, Tiara was Daisy's adopted mom).

Back at my property--the grazing pasture got a fencing repair and the herd went over there for a couple days. Meanwhile, we had the space in and around the barn in the main pasture messed with. There is now a French drain system, the hill is pushed back a smidge, and the whole area in and around the barn is rock (with rubber mats on top in the barn). This will hopefully stop the build up of water/mud and make winters less painful.

The dirt that we dug up during the pasture renovation has been brought up to the site where we'll be making the arena and shop. Today we've started spreading the dirt to flatten the land for use.

Following the vet's orders, Rosco got trotted around for 10 minutes twice a day for a few days. He was very well behaved for the most part, though he did get excitable a few times... He's a good kicker lol. The order was to work him for a week, but he's been extra playful out in the pastures so I was able to stop. Baby boy is now in the clear regarding any possible complications from the gelding procedure. <3

Besides Rosco's trotting, the horses have just been resting. I should be able to get Terry back into work this week though. I'm going to put off working Dixie until after she gets her yearly vet check, as I want to make sure her breathing isn't going to be an issue.

Went to the rescue today. Let me correct what I said about the new foal--she's actually 4 weeks old and her name is Lona.

She's actually very very friendly! Good cuddle buddy. Tiara and her get along perfectly and look like a real mother-daughter pair. Both girls got to take a nice walk around the property and down the driveway before they got turned out in the pasture. Lona is already getting good at leading. :)

Here's the only picture I managed to take. Was more caught up in handling her.

The horses haven't been doing much, but over the last few weeks Terry has had one quick groundwork session and two dressage schools. They were pretty basic and she was well behaved. Not much to record, except for that she really wants to pull me down, 'cause it's easier for her to move with her head down. When her head is up in frame, she has to use her body more. We'll work on strengthening her muscles so that she has an easier time staying up.

Some boring little updates:
We bought more grain.
We bought more hay.
The horses are shedding into pretty new coats.
Blankets have stayed off for plenty of weeks now, so I believe we're done with them all together, until next fall/winter.

Now for the interesting stuff...
So, for a long time we've been discussing bringing Dixie to the rescue. The foals always do better when they have a mom, and we're almost certain that she would be good for nurse mare-ing. Yesterday, I got word that two new foals are coming to the rescue, and today Dixie's presence was requested. The new babies are arriving and my girlie will be heading over to adopt one in about an hour and a half. I'll get pictures if I can.

Since the rescue is right on the other side of the trees from my house, Dixie will still be reachable. I will be going to see her and care for her every day.
For the next little while, Dixie and Terry will be very on edge, as they are incredibly bonded and hate being apart. They'll be sad for a while. It'll be unfortunate, but it won't last forever. Dixie will come home in a few months when the baby is weaned, and I'll bring Terry over for visits. I feel bad separating them, but it's for the good of the babies.

Now, this is all if things go according to plan, and Dixie accepts the baby + starts producing. We can only hope. If it doesn't go well, she will likely come back home early.

Dixie is now at the rescue with her new filly. Little girl is about ten days old, very little, has a black baby coat, and is named Leto. Dixie is madly in love with her, and she seems very happy to have a new friend.

The other foal is a chestnut colt named Loki, about a week old. He's been graphed to a mare named Lexi. Dixie with Leto and Lexi with Loki are in dirt runouts beside each other with a nice bedded shack. For now they can visit through the fence, but in a few days we will hopefully be turning them out in a grass pasture together. I'm not sure if Tiara and Lona will be with them just yet, but eventually the goal is to have all baby and momma pairs in the grass pastures together.

I was much more focused on what was going on, so I didn't get pictures of any of the babies. My mom did get a video of Dixie and Leto being introduced to each other, but unfortunately this is the best screenshot I could get. Still cute :) This was right at the beginning, so you can see the vet supervising after helping Leto over. Leto is nursing and Dixie is nudging and licking her. You can sort of see Lexi and Loki nursing in the background, but they're fuzzy.
