| Capital letters mean the gene is present There are 2 colors that need an absence of the gene Red (ee) means no black is present Pearl (pp) think of pearl as toner |

| Zz or ZZ means the horse has silver. zz means the horse doesn't have silver. Hope that makes a little more sense. |

| Zz means the horse is carrying one copy of silver. One copy means the horse has a chance of passing silver onto their offspring. If the horse is ZZ, then it carries two copies and every foal they throw is guaranteed to be silver |
