Hi all!! I understand there has been some discussion of bots causing lags as we migrate to the new server but I guess I don't entirely understand what exactly bots are/do. Obviously, they're not real players but do bots refer to AI-created accounts? What are bots attempting to do within HEE? What is their objective? Are bots something else entirely? Thank you so much to anyone who can help illuminate this a bit 😉🫶🏻 |

It can be different things, but usually it's people trying to DDOS the site. As in they send a bunch of bogus traffic to the server to try to swamp the server and make it go down. People are slugs and it's fairly common. But, never fear, we have several security layers to combat that. |

But to answer your question, it's not AI or bots creating accounts, or anything like that. It's just a bunch of bogus traffic. Such as they will call an HEE page (like the horse page, or other page) over and over. For example, our average traffic is 150K requests per hour, and the requests went up to 700K requests per hour with all the bogus traffic. The server absorbed it fairly well, but I had to turn on the cloudflare verifications and create some new security rules. I just had a security check while logging in. Could that be because of all the traffic and my phone making sure it's still a safe sight? |

Yeah that's what it is from. And every time I glance at another tab and come back to this one I get a security check again. Better safe than sorry though :) |
