I'd work on grounding and lighting and making it look real before going to high t3, and I'd get your hair and markings/patterns down before trying for t2. I understand it may feel like you're not getting anywhere, but T2 will come with time. Try to focus on quality of pieces rather than quanity (producing as many pieces as you can).
