So I see people with their stable name as their avatar, but the thing is, the letters are see-through to a BG behind them. I use GIMP, 2.8 I think, and I can't figure out how to do this!! Any advise? Thanks!

I think you can put text then a BG behind it then erase part of the text, but I don't use HIMP so I'm not entirely sure... but it doesn't hurt to try :) |

Lower the opacity of the text layer :) |

I put text on a BG in separate layers Select all on the text layer Erase it Revert selection area Switch to BG Erase |
