Kayla walked to the same field as yesterday, mindlessly turning her dagger over and over in her hands |

Gale took out a flask,Sage denieing and only taking a sip or two of the liquor.Gale shrugged,finishing off the flask in meer minutes.Eventually,he fell under,Sage dragging him over and propping him up in a corner,tossing the flask on him. Sage walked out,making his way to a field and climbing a tree,realizing Kayla was a tree down.He hopped down silently,walking over and leaning on the one she was perched at.Sage snapped a twig,hoping it was loud enough to gain attention. |

Kayla stood, spinning and on alert as she glanced around. She saw Sage and rolled her eyes. "If I hadn't recognized you, i'd kill you" She warned quietly |

Sage listened for a moment,letting the sounds of the night fill in for a few moments. "If you tried to kill me,I would've killed you first.So i'd advise you don't try anything." He warned,tone sharp yet soft. |

"I wasn't going to... Unless you try to do something" She muttered, replacing her knife on her hip and walking back toward camp. "What do you want, Sage?" She asked, curious but annoyed |

Sage chuckled quietly as Kayla tried to walk past him, the sound flat, like something unsaid. Before she could move away, his hand shot out and grabbed her shoulder, pulling her back toward him. His voice was low, almost calm, but there was a sharpness to it that caught her off guard. “You think you know Gale,” he said, his lips near her ear, his breath cold. “You think you understand what he’s been through. What we’ve both been through.” His grip tightened, just enough to remind her he was still in control. “We were captured, you know. By the king. Thrown into a ring. Forced to fight. To kill.” His voice was quieter now, more dangerous for it. “For the king’s entertainment. You think Gale came out of that without some scars? You think he’s the same person he was before?” Sage’s words hung in the air for a moment, heavy with something unspoken. He shifted his weight, the dagger slipping from its sheath in a fluid motion. The blade caught the light, its cold edge pressing against her neck, but not enough to draw blood. “Life’s like a dagger,” Sage muttered, the words almost philosophical. “Sometimes you’re the one holding it. Sometimes it’s held to your throat.” He leaned in just a little closer. “You have no idea what we had to do to survive. What he had to do. He doesn’t tell you everything, does he?” A small flick of the dagger, barely enough to nick her skin, was the only sign of a threat. “If you ever say a word about this to him—or anyone—I’ll make sure you remember what happens when survival is the only thing that matters.” With that, Sage stepped back, sliding the dagger back into its sheath. He turned and walked toward the camp, leaving the lingering silence hanging in the air. |

Kayla just glared at him as he spoke, jerking her shoulder back slightly as he threatened her. "Asshole" She muttered, walking back to camp and into the tent |

Sage walked into the tent, glancing over at Gale, who was knocked out in the corner, a bottle still dangling from his hand. Sage smirked, shaking his head. “Pathetic,” he muttered, before moving to his cot and lying down. He closed his eyes, letting the night settle around him. Gale snored lightly, the soft sound mixing with the crackling of the fire outside. Sage didn’t need to think much more than that. With a deep breath, he let himself drift off, the quiet of the tent wrapping around him. |
