I eventually returned, watching her to make sure everything was alright, setting a glass of water on the nightstand as well as a small trashcan---as you never knew if anything was going to come up. I stayed standing by the doorframe, counting her breaths before realizing what I was doing, muttering under my breath as I slipped downstairs once again. |

Emily got up and threw up an hour later before stumbling downstairs with a serious RBF. "The fuck happened?" |

"We practically got into a fight without actually fighting, I left, smoked half a pack, came back and you were out cold under a car, drank too much, then I found you and brought you upstairs." I explained calmly, pouring a shot (or four) before swallowing them easily. |

"Fuck....Sorry" She said, looking at the floor. "Can we shut off some damn lights please?" |

I nodded, adjusting a dial on the wall before the lights dimmed, rubbing at my eyes as they begged for sleep. |

"You can head to bed if you want, I kinda want another drink...Actually, bedtime." She said, taking his hand |

I nodded, thought it felt...off now that she clasped her hand around mine, dragging me along upstairs. I didn't protest. Nor did I agree. Waste of breath, getting into another argument. |

She dropped his hand, climbing into bed |

I climbed into bed beside her, staring at the ceiling for a long moment before turning my back to her, slipping my eyes shut as Murphy jumped on the bed, and I silently pushed him over so that he was between us, mimicking the feeling of her, all while I reminded myself she wouldn't be 'mine' much longer. |
