Exactly what charm said! It really makes things easier, and the fish love it too!

@DD, so you have had good luck with plants?
Backwood Barns

I will always recommend planted. It will also help keep your tank clean and water quality higher because plants remove nitrates/nitrites from the fish waste.

Versa & Bird, gotta love plants and fishies!

Bird, you should! I made the mistake of not doing one with my tetras and I honestly regret it a bit xD

Um, I guess? They're alive, but they're not growing for him. They're only as big as they are because they thrived in my tank. So I guess my advice is to get an established piece?
Hummingbird Meadows
10:08:17 Bird
@DD, yes. I kind of want a betta fish. Trying to decide if I should do a planted tank.

Yes indeed, DD

Ironically, he can grow 10-feet long Jungle Val, and as soon as I take a few pieces of it, it dies in my tanks. So it's all about finding the plants that you can maintain and thrive in your tanks!

Bird, then you need to have a good piece of driftwood or lava rock to attach it to. But they still grow and require trimming! I have a giant anubias in my 135 that has been growing for 6 years on a large piece of driftwood. I can't seem to kill it, but I'll give pieces to my dad for his tank whenever I need to do maintanance and he can't get them to grow at all. Some pieces that are 3 years old are the same size as when I gave them to him. So... I'm not sure about that. I think they're easy and great plants. If you asked my dad he'd say they're pointless LOL

Charm,
He was wild! The brightest pink and shimmery blue I've ever seen in a betta. Loved his leaf hammocks, too.
Hummingbird Meadows
10:03:43 Bird
@Charm, what about rhizome plants that don't need to go in substrate?
Backwood Barns
10:02:42 Charm's Wubs
Bird, you have to have the right soil/substrate first of all. And then you have to either find someone local who will give you cuttings of their established plants, or order online (I recommend ModernAquarium if you do this, I've never had a bad order.) and then once they are established you have to trim them and keep them maintained so they don't overgrow. Sometimes that means throwing extras away, sometimes that means replanting them... if that makes sense.

Bird,
I do not, Paarthurnax passed just before my move to Tennessee. However, he had a 20 gallon tank all to himself, which a ton of silk plants and caves.

@Versa, do you currently have a betta? What size tank is he in?

I ended up only with a few moss balls because my betta that I tried live plants with had serious beef with these inanimate objects lol

Hello!
I am looking for advice and suggestions on which matches to do with my mare Padmé
She is ridiculously hard to match for no reason LOL!
Some ideas I had -
Rooker + Mvt/Dressage med
Fable + Hrt/Spd or Jump med
or back to Valino, who matches her better but is lower on the ABLB, who she produced a WEE who went all up Wk 4.
Please let me know your thoughts and/ or some stud suggestions. No budget for the right match. Not really looking at freshman, colour would be nice but for a good match I would sacrifice :)
If you can help - Thanks!

I also have a straw to DS9 Astaldo - I don't really want to use it, but if it seems to be the best match I would.
Astaldo
I can't remember his training though.

Acheron looks a good bet.

My thoughts-
Those two boys both look like pretty good matches with the items you listed. I'd give one of them a try. Rooker isn't super strong in Scp, her weakest trait, while Fable is, so I'd be more inclined to go with him. If you did do Fable, I'd definitely do a Spd glass, since it's his weakest trait and her second weakest, and Hrt is one of his strengths in his tracking.

He's the opposite of a good match. He has the same strengths as her.

Yeah thank you so much. That was kinda my thoughts but I may try both in embryos.

I wouldnt "waste" an Astaldo straw on an iffy maiden.
I'd go with Rooker with a mvt as choice 1, Fable with a spd glass as choice 2

Bringing this back up -
I tried both, both were WWE. She clearly is very weak in jump - any ideas on what to do? Medallion, different studs?

I'm guessing Fable's combined Spd weakness is just too much even with the glass, so there's not really anything else you could do there. Rooker might be worth retrying with a different item. I'd do a Scp glass since that's her weakest trait and his weakest of the jumping traits.
I also took a look at the ABLB to see if there were any new options and found this guy. He's #6 right now, strongest in Scp based on his current training, and also strong in Spd based on his wk 7, so I'd definitely give him a try, though not sure with what item.

Thanks Eurie. I will try rooker again with the new glass and probably the #6 with a jump med for fun xD. You are a lifesaver :D
