For the first one, the horse looks like it's in blue or white light, while the background would be giving off orange/red light. The horse is also pretty light for the darkness of the background.

For the second one, I would work on adding shading to the mane and tail, because they don't look connected to the rest of the horse. I would also work on where shadows would be cast based on where the light is coming from.

Personally, I feel like the patterns on the first are too bright for the overall tone and lighting.The muzzle is also slightly blurred. I do love the movement of the tail on the second, very natural.
