yup! usually blue eyes are seen when there's pink skin/white pigment around them, though not always. Sometimes a white pattern that doesn't go over the eyes still causes them to be blue

Genetic question, on HEE what genes can make a horse have blue eyes? I've got an art idea, but I'd like it to be genetically accurate. ;P

Can champagne make blue as well as green?

in May I get to compete in my first horse show on one of my instructors horses Sitka(we will be competing in a standardbred ring at walk trot, he isn't quite fit enough for open yet lol), it's only a "t shirt hack show" so it's less formal but does anyone have any tips.

If the others look like you could easily beat them do NOT lower your game, you should be extra determined.

Thanks for the tip

I'm now buying a new helmet before the show as the one I've got is slightly too big if I have my hair in a bun (low at the bottom of my neck)

Been there XD

Try not to get nervous. Really. It actually makes things ten times worse.
Honestly I cant remember one time when I went into the show ring without being nervous. Your horse also senses your nervousness. So think.
When you have a nervous rider and a nervous horse...not a fun situation to be in. Try to relax, remember that this is a learning experience.
Before my first show, I was told to think of stupid vines that make me laugh. Honestly it really, truly works!!

Lastly, remember to BREATH!! And smile :)

Best of luck to you and Stika!

I agree with everyone! The number one thing is to stay calm. (I’ve went into the ring crying before, it’s not fun haha! When your nervous, your going to make your horse “nervous” in a way. When competing at walk trot the number one thing to placing (atleast where I’ve competed In the past) is spacing. There will always be a big clump of riders on the rail, avoid being by them all costs. There been classes a year or so back that I’ve done absolutely horrible in , but since me & one other rider was on the rail we placed 2nd haha. I don’t know the age group your in, so I can’t guarantee anything, but it’s good to watch your spacing. Stay hydrated and eat! I usually compete at a week long fair, and this is something really important. We’ve had people pass out while waiting by the arenas before. And lastly really just trust your horse, and try to have fun. :)

Thanks for the advice, I try to keep that in mind

I'm not sure exactly which classes we'll be in as it depends on his fitness lol
Could you be more specific on spacing?
