I have had Gypsy Vanners when i was younger but sadly there weren't own by me personally. They were very old Gypsy Vanners and I did rider a few of them, that's why I love horses.

I do know some information about them but you might have already read up on it, if you are going or have already bought some Gypsy Vanners.

Gypsy horses is prone to diseases common to feathered draught horses. The most serious of these is Chronic Progressive Iymphedema.
(Hopefully I spelt that right..)

Also Gypsy Vanners can be a lot of work and money like every other horse but a lot of people still think these Gypsy gaints are rare and I have seen a yearling go for $12,000 IRL.

Omg I love Gypsies! They are very strong and patient. They can be very big or small like ponies. They like to walk in the water. The best horse breed.

Well last week, the owner of the house and land we were going to buy pretty much backed out on the deal. We were a few weeks away from officially signing, and the appraisal on the land came back for way more then the owner thought it would and was asking, so he pretty much changed his mind. So we are back to the drawing board, and house and land hunting again. Please pray we will find the perfect fit for our family, and hopefully future horses.

I use to work at a theraputic horse riding facility that had 35 horses. Three of those 35 were gypsy vanner horses and were my favorites of them all. They were so smart, extremely gentle and absolutely gorgeous. The only issue we had with them was the fact that they had longer more brittle manes and tails which made it difficult for us to keep them clean. Their tales would drag the ground and get caught up in dirt so we would constantly clip them just to keep them from dragging and had to brush the tales at least 3 times a day. The manes would get tangled up and so we were always brushing those as well and often braided them. Hooves were harder to keep clean because they have larger hooves that are wide but apart from that it was simple to work with them.

They are shorter than most horse breeds and from the ones we had, they were no larger than 15hh. If you are breeding for strength and dressage or beginners jumping these horses are great for that. But like i said, to keep up with their care is difficult and they are expensive.

Pros:
Smart, beautiful, gentle, great for shows

Cons:
Maintenance is tough and they are normally an expensive breed.

I hope this helps :) anything else just pm me. The breed is gorgeous and great to work with.
