What impacts a foals rating? Parents' ratings? Parents' training? Chance?

Foal's ratings come from their parents, and some chance. Tracking parent's training allows players to match a mare and stallion so one's strengths will make up for the other's weakness. Chance, known as random factor (RF) on HEE can also play a part in a foal's ratings.

So a horse won't have a higher rated foal just because it has more training? BUT Training can tell you what it's strengths are?

Correct. A horse could have 12 training sessions or 50 but it won't directly make a foal better/worse based off how much training their parents have. The more training there is however, makes it easier to tell in the long run what the sire or dam is strong/weak in. Edited at May 3, 2022 05:21 PM by LostCause

Correct. The foals ratings are based on the parents ratings and random factor. Because a horses ratings never change, the amount of training a horse has won't change the potential ratings of foals. The training just tells you the horses strengths and weaknesses so you can properly match them. For example, if your horse is weak in heart, you want to find a match that is strong in heart.
