If this is your first horse, I suggest just one. And that one being the QH, or a stock breed. I highly recommend especially keeping the Arab until a lot later, as they are prone to be highstrung. If you are looking to show, a QH is also convenient considering that AQHA has a lot of shows all over the country. If this is also your first horse, look into getting one that's not green :) Even if you have experience, you should still wait until you have more until you go out and buy an OTTB or an unbroken BLM Mustang and end up not knowing how to handle them.

If I were you, don't buy the property or any of that yet. Lease/loan a horse at your local livery yard or somewhere nearby, get horse care lessons, offer to help at the local Riding school, they can teach you horse care and you can learn how to handle different horses, get lessons. Don't go head first into all of this, it's a massive commitment, what if you change your mind halfway through? Would you really want to sell the horses you've worked with and have formed a bond with? I certainly wouldn't. Just at least help out somewhere get a share or loan. You might decide you don't like owning a horse, it's not fair on the horse if you suddenly change your mind halfway through

I said several times what type of medical bills I was talking about: emergency medical bills. For example, a horse injuries an eye overnight and needs emergency surgery to have it removed. Do you have money set aside for stuff like that?

You also said that you have 'plans' for college. Are you still in high school? And don't have a paying job? I'm sorry I'm just not seeing where you're going to be getting the money for all of this, regardless that you have help from others

Oak I'm with you entirely. Wait a few years until you're done with school and know EXACTLY what you want to do with your life before you buy anyway. Leasing and lessons are a great first option before buying, and I highly recommend doing one or both of them before you even LOOK at horses.

Well Lucky, I believe if this is your dream, you can make anything happen, and who said the house needs to be big? A small cabin for two people will cost some but not near as much as a house. I'm Shure you Lucky will find a well paying job and also for one thing is this is just a plan to start and not starting this very moment. I'm not saying it is going to apsolutly going to go out the window but a paying job will help a lot. BTW are you also going to have cattle on this ranch too or something else to help pay bills?

yes this is only a plan to start. i am NOT going to be buying horses yet. i know i need much more experience then what i have right now. i have gotten multiple offers for jobs with horses, and im going to look into what i will be doing. i think that you have had good ideas to rent/lease a horse for more practice. for the emergency medical care: that 200k saved up, a good amount is going to emergency medical care

But wasn't that 200k to be used for your ranch / horses / house?

It's good that you're waiting. Jumping into these things is disastrous and irresponsible in some ways. Again, one horse to start, possibly boarding it so it's not alone, and after you have finished school and have a set life plan :)
