*Cracks fingers* Alright, I am READY for this! XD)
.
Noda was not suprised in the least of his answer, so she simply nodded, choosing not to push it any further. She followed him close behind, allowing her orbs to watch the impressions his hooves made in the dirt beneath them, turning it into a game to make her own indentions right on top of and identical to his. Of course her feet were just a tad smaller than his, but as long as she didn't go outside of his ring, it was a win. With nothing but silence between them for a good chunk of the day, her mind often drifted back to her latest nightmare, only now, since some time had past, the face she had almost been able to make out was muddled and blurry any time she tried to picture it. That intense fear she felt by just the thought of this stranger had subsided until it was only a small flutter in the pit of her stomach. The only unwavering detail she could still recall, were his piercing blue eyes. But ... even still, there was something captiviating about them that Noda just couldn't explain. It was extremely confusing how beautful and scary it seemed.
Noda was brought out of her thoughts as she began to notice Rip paying extra close attention to their surroundings. At first, she felt on edge, thinking it was another predator of some sorts in the shadows, but Rip didn't seem the least put off as he 'should' have been if it were some sort of predator. "Wait, do you recognize this place?" She asked, slowly putting things together at last. Her head perked up and she too, began scenting the air as they continued walking. As the woods finally began to open up as the vastness of the field rolled out before them, the wind blew hard against them, sending plumage of all colors flying all around. Honestly, Noda didn't mind a small relief from the sun that had bared down on them for the last several hours. As a matter of fact, a freshness stirred within the mare and she felt re-energized by the breeze as she gazed upon the open land, mountains curving the horizon in the distance. Not a single tree or shrub broke through the sea of buffalo grass that swayed along the gently rolling shape of the field. "This is it, isn't it?" Noda said aloud, but more as a statement than a question aimed at her company. Something in her bones told her this was home. A smile stretched across her features as she felt an urgency to tear across the land, closing in on what small distance kept her and her dam - and her natal herd, apart. All the worries she had troubled her mind with until this point were simply gone and in its place was an anxious excitement. She had completely forgotten to keep her expectations in check. There was no guarentee that the herd was here, but Noda didn't care. She was so close.
Noda did however, keep Rip in mind as she reined in her excitement to walk beside him in a rather "prancy" gait. It was the best she could do as her orbs scanned the land like it was her only purpose in this life. Her nostrils flared, working overtime to filter each and every scent, ready to pinpoint the faintest equine smells in the area. It wasn't until they got further into the plains and a dark figure appeared on the horizon all alone. "Rip, do you see that?" She tried to calm the excitement in her voice, but all she could see in that moment was her dam. It HAD to be her dam.

(Oh my gosh it is beautiful!! Perfect for her <3. Love it. I am going to apologize till the end of time, but for the moment.. I'm just answering you lol. It'll work as the best apology for putting this off so long
I'm sorry it's so short- I'm crunched on time... still. With the fair approaching, I'm past my head in work))
-
The stallion looked around with mild excitement, feeling his heart flutter with the hope some of his old herdmates would be here. His orbs flitted around wildly, and his audits pricked, picking up every sound. Noda's voice dragged him out of his thoughts, causing him to glance over, his dark brown orbs lit up slightly. "Yes, this is our homeland. Or, it was mine, anyway. Is yours." He answered, shaking his mane as he continued forward, his steps confident in where he was going. His steps were quicker than normal, but it did make the limp heavier, his head bobbing slightly as he walked quickly forward. The long grass waved up against his strong legs, making his skin twitch, though he paid little mind. The field was so big, and just full of promise and hope. Somewhere, deep down, he told himself not to get too hopeful; he'd just be disappointed. It was true, to say the least. His whole life was full of disappointment, as he was always far too ambitious. Too optimistic. That was a thing, he had quickly figured out when rushing through the trials of life. As his nostrils flared, he picked up the faintest of scents. He didn't recognize it from this far away, but as a shadow appeared on the horizon, his orbs lit up even more. "I do." He answered, hearing the excitement in her voice and immediately getting stabbed with worry. What if it WASN'T her dam? Would she be disappointed or heartbroken? What if they never found her dam? He would've failed her. Anxiety slowly creeping in, he tried to hide it, lengthening his strides to a quick trot as to cover as much ground as possible. Although it hurt, he wanted to know who this was. The wind was blowing the wrong way, so he still couldn't tell who it was, and the sun was to the back of the horse, shining brightly in their eyes.

I'm going to take this in little chunks until I can get back into her character. I can't quite remember where I was going with this when I last wrote! XD)
.
The two quickened their pace and headed directly for the stranger who hadn't seen them yet. Noda tried to stay in step with Rip, but her strides came much quicker in all her excitement. Her amber orbs were strained on the figure, and as they got closer, she was able to confirm the coat color of this horse was indeed black. It has to be her!
.
The black equine finally lifted its head and its ears pricked forward as it noticed them. Instead of running back to the sfety of the herd that had to be somewhere in the area, it stayed put, almost as if it too were trying to make them out. Noda was finally close enough that she could meet their gaze and she stopped dead in her tracks, staring on. A soft greeting floated through the air between them and when it hit Noda's audits, it nearly knocked her flat off her hooves. The sound of the voice clicked and the red mare instantly knew it was her dam. Her bright eyes rimmed in tears as she stood, unable to speak for several moments.
.
Another cry erupted from the mare and finally, Noda collected herself enough to call back, taking off on her haunches and galloping out across the field, nearly forgetting all about Riptide. The mare have recognized her as well as she too, took off towards her.

(I don't even know where to start, so lemme just-
I am SO SO SO SO SO SO SO (infinity x) SORRY!!! I love this rp and would be heartbroken if it ended- and on that note, it is completely fine if I have been absent for too long and you have lost interest. My life has gone into chaotic flames these past two months, and I have been having... extreme family issues. You can call them that, I guess. I promise, I did not forget about this, but at the end of each day I just feel too exhausted to answer anything. Even on some of my other favorite rp's, they've gone unanswered. My mental stability at the moment is about as stable as a jenga game about 30 minutes in. I really hope we can continue this rp! Again, I am sorry for slacking so much.
Also, the entire month of septemper will be a particularily rough time for me, as I am busy from dawn till dusk. I will try to answer as much as possible, but things won't mellow out until October. Another note- the entire month of December I may be absent, as I have a bunch of family things planned and other trips as well.
I know I have violated our try to post once a day rule, and I completely understand if you do not want to continue.))
-

Riptide was so exhausted and in pain by now that he didn't really want to move another inch, and it didn't help that there was only one figure on top of the hill, and it was not his dam. He had been secretly wishing that this trip would give him to oppourtinity to see his own kin, but he had a feeling that wasn't going to happen. However, for Noda, he pushed forward as quickly as he could, as he saw he was already falling behind. He stretched out his legs as much as possible, his hooves beating rather quietly against the tall grass as he shoved himself forward with each step. His audits pricked straight forward, he had the distinct feeling that this was Noda's dam.

As they neared, he gladly halted alongside Noda. Although he was happy at her revelation, his mind still warned him about the danger's of this. They were unprotected and he was injured. Most mare's didn't wander alone, so there was likely a herd nearby, which meant another stallion, which could be terrible trouble. Ripp stood close enough to Noda as to attempt to protect her if anything happened, but he attempted not to look clingy at the same time. As the gentle voice drifted through the wind, his orbs lit up. He knew that voice. It had to be (Liona, right?).

As Noda took off, Ripp didn't try too hard to keep up, as there was no way he'd be able to. Instead, he hurriedly trotted after her, his nostrils flared as he tried to breathe in every scent everywhere. As he pulled up to where they had stopped near each other, he soaked in the sight, glad that he had accomplished his mission, before trotting a little further and attempting to see over the hill. Was his own dam there? Rue... he needed to see her again. A tight pain in his chest started to squeeze as he was torn with going further over the hill to see if there was a herd or going back to make sure Noda was okay. It seemed, no matter what his mind told him, that he had already decided, as he turned back towards the mares, stopping a little ways away.

Heyyy ... let me start by saying that I am SO SO so so sorry for falling off the face of the earth! These past few months I have not been very active on HEE as around the time I vanished, I had discovered HARPG on DA and with a new ipad and an app, I got completely obsorbed by racehorse RP over there and completely forgot somehow about this roleplay and I feel so bad because I never wanted to stop it! To make up for it, I re-read all 11 pages to refresh my memory properly and then also wrote down my thoughts for how I think Noda's past should reveal itself now and I can promise you ... DRAMA! XD That is, if you'd like to continue this RP, which I really hope you do because I want to! )
************
Noda had completely forgotten about the stallion for a brief moment as her orbs produced tears of joy she didn't care streamed down her delicate features. They were glued to the figure of her mother fastly approaching and it was then she decided that she would never let her out of her sight again. The two figures collided gracefully, the dark mare completely embraced the younger, brighter mare who slowly disappesared under the dark, inky plummage draped from the dam's neck.
.
"Noda? Is that really you?" Liona pulled back after several minutes of being interlocked. Her bright, almost yellow orbs studied the familiar features she knew of her daughter, but also lingered over the new scars she had accumulated.
.
"H- he- he told me you were dead ... " Her sweet yet quivering voice trailed off as she reattached herself to Noda for one last embrace. "How did you escape the fire? Are you alright?" She continued on with so many questions, Noda could hardly keep up, especially with the overwheling joy she felt numbing all of her other senses.
.
Her frame quivered uncontrollably as she tried to bring herself back to reality. The dark mare she had been searching for behind every tree and every shadow was finally standing before her, in real time, and her presence was even more calming and reassuring than Noda had ever experienced. She hadly heard the words she spoke, still taking on her presence, burning every detail to memory.
.
"I- I ..." So many words bumbarded the young red mare's mind, she phyically couldn't speak, but after a few moments to collect her throughts, she strung together a couple words. "I don't remember anything past the last few weeks." She began the familair story she had already told to Rip upon their first meeting and then again witht the stupid pale stallion, Rock. "I woke up with the burns and no idea where I was. I would have died if it wasn't for Rip." She smiled and then immediatley remembered the stallion she had abandoned for her reunion with her mother.
.
Noda snapped her frame around, searching the rolling hills she had soared over just moments ago to find his limping form. "Rip? Your childhood friend, Rip?" Liona's words flicked around Noda's audits but she didn't respond, rather turning back to the black mare with pleading eyes. "Rip is hurt pretty badly, can you help?" Her voice hinted deeply at the concern for the stallion that had saved her. She hardly waited for an answer before trotting quickly to his side.
.
Liona was already downright shocked to the core over finding out the daughter she thought she had lost was actually alive, but now she really felt like she was seeing ghosts from her past as her orbs landed on the familar dappled grey giant of a stallion she had known for all his life.Without hesitation she followed after the younger mare. She offered a soft and warmly welcoming greeting to the young stallion, all grown up before her very eyes. "Hello again, Rip. What have you gotten yourself into this time?" She kept her tone light hearted as she tried to keep the mood light and investigate his wounds. He had a few that were deep enough to be concerning, but especially the one to his rear leg.
.
"These wounds are deep, but you did an excellent job at keeping them clean. I guess you didn't forget everything afterall." She smiled sharing a quick glimpse with her daughter. "It's such a long and confusing story, Noda snorted, looking at her dam and then back to Rip.
.
Standing next to Rip in the presence of her dam gave Noda an odd, yet happy feeling. As if all the pain and misery they both had endured over the last several weeks simply had vanished. A breath of silence passed between them before Liona spoke up. "Alright, lets get you taken care of, son. Follow me." With a mare on either side of the stallion (whether he liked it or not), they helped keep him stable as they followed the older mare's instructions back to her secluded home on the outskirts of the swamp that kissed the border of the herd's territory.

Oh, no problem! I fell offa the face of the earth earlier, so I wouldn't expect you to immediately respond.
I would love to continue this RP and I am very glad you have drama planned lol. I see you added a new character, can't wait to hear about that, and I am slowly re-reading the roleplay as well. My replies won't be as long as before, although I'll keep them around 500 words. I got a puppy 8 or so weeks ago and we are still figuring out how to handle that, so life has been chaotic. I can't wait to continue this RP, however! Thanks for the second chance haha)
+++

While Riptide stood, either watching the mares or glancing around, his mind was tugged into thoughts of his old life. His dam, Rue, took up most of the room inhis mind, clouding his thoughts and swirling around and around as if taunting him. He found it weird that he couldn't see any other horses, nor smell scents, and it made him much more wary of the situation. However, the wind was blowing away from him, so he wouldn't be able to smell their scent if they were downwind anyway. That was even worse for his already worried conscience, as he knew that meant anything could be hiding behind the rolling hills and he wouldn't know till they were in sight, meaning it very well could be too late by the time he reacted. This alone made him more alert than he already was, audits perked and constantly swiveling, orbs flicking around with the utmost caution, and hooves moving so that he could turn and survey everywhere around him.

Amidst the worry for Noda's safety, and his own, was the ever constant concern for his herd, way back near the coastline, alone without a stallion to guard them. He had been wondering, this entire trip, if he made the right decision to help Noda, if he was going to come back to find his mares taken by another stallion, or worse, killed by wolves. He felt sick with the idea that he might cause others harm because he wanted to help one. Was it stupid that he left to help her, a mare he hadn't known for years, a mare that had hurt him in incomprehensible ways, and put his whole herd, 7 mares that had never wronged him and fully trusted him, in danger? Had he sealed their fates when deciding that she was more important? The questions plagued his mind now more than ever if he wondered whether or not to leave immediately and go back. He had helped her find Liona, so wasn't his mission done? Yet he still felt a tug, a reason to stay.

His dark orbs flicked to the two mares, embracing each other and talking in low tones. Even if this cost him dearly, at least he had helped two mares find their loved ones again. At least some good would come out of what might be the biggest mistake of his life. Really, when he thought about it... if he could go back in time, he wouldn't have changed his decision. Now, if he goes back and finds his herd slaughtered or gone, his feelings may shift, but at the moment, everything he did was worth it to see the joyful tears on Noda's muzzle and the happiness in Liona's gaze.

He had turned his gaze back to the hills, posture tense yet wavering as the pain throbbed through him, when he heard hoofbeats. His audits flicked back to where Noda was trotting to his side. Honestly, he hadn't expected her to remember he existed for at least another half hour or so. He was slightly surprised that she would come over here, and couldn't fathom why... she had spent the past couple days - a week with him, why would she go to him when she could be talking to her mother whom she couldn't remember and had been searching for for weeks? His questions were answered when Liona spoke... they had walked over to help him. Of course. Noda did seem to be like that, now, where she would care more about making sure he was okay than talking to her mother. He wasn't even sure if he was in her place, he would be able to do that. She was turning out to be quite the selfless mare.

His audits flicked at the black mare's words and he dipped his head slightly in respect and thanks. "Just some minor wounds. Not something you have to stop for. I'll rest and they'll get better." He stated lowly, yet they seemed to have a different idea in mind. "I knew everything you taught was quite important. I would never forget." He nickered with a lift of his muzzle, glancing at them before inclining his cranium slightly. Ripp had already sumbitted to the fact he would be escorted to a place where Liona would do something about his wounds. Since neither of them seemed to be hurt or unhappy, he supposed he could allow this, as he likely couldn't stop them. He disliked being this weak in any horse's prescence, but he had much more worry for the fact he was unfamiliar with what lay around them.

The stallion limped along with them, cranium lowered slightly as he reserved his energy for if any threat appeared. Despite his condition, he would, without hesitation, attempt and protect them if something happened. However, for the moment, he would follow along and accept help. Pain laced his veins and stabbed up his back leg, especially, as he walked, but he ignored it the best he could, trying to keep his focus on the path ahead.

Awe, congrats on the new puppy! Please feel free to respond however you like and have time for! This RP is so fun, it could be 200 words and I would still be excited to respond to you! XD Since I am really in an inspired era for this RP, my posts will probably be hella long for a bit but PLEASE, do not feel like you have to match them in any way! I'm in a storytelling mood with how I want to reveal Noda's past in a dramatic, engaging way! And well ... when im excited, I write too much! XD)

**************************************

.

"Careful now, this part here can be a bit slick," Liona cautioned as the once firm, dry soil beneath them began to dampen and then turn into a muddled, sludge consistency, covered in a fine layer of brackish water that drowned the entirety of the swamp.

.

Each set of hoofprints left behind by the horses quickly disappeared as the ground reformed and filled in their indentions seconds after the pressure of their frames lifted. The air in this environment was thick with the heavy musk of the moist and decaying biome around them. It worked perfectly for masking their scents almost entirely from anything, or anyone that might try to follow them. However, it also made it near impossible to tell if something else was also around close by. Thankfully, Liona knew this area extremely well and knew it to be uninhabited by the usual swamp predators, mostly due to the lack of deep water and vegitation herbirores would care to eat.
.
The dark mare cast glances at the two, catching Noda's wrinkled features which she addressed with a soft chuckle. "It's not the prettiest place to look at or smell, but it's a good hiding spot."

.

"What are you hiding from?" Noda asked, her disgusted features molding into a look of confusion. Why hide if she has a herd? Herds are for protection, right?

.

Liona shook her head, "Well, even though everyone appreciates a healer during their times of need, they don't necessarily appreciate how that lifestyle and practice looks in everyday life." Liona's words made sense in a direct explanation ... but the hesitation in her voice and the brief avoidance in her eye contact didn't go as unnoticed as the older mare had hoped.

.

"Where is everyone else?" Noda asked again. "Oh, they're further in the valley. Better grazing this time of year." Liona once again answered without further detail.

.

Eventually, Liona paused before a large dry, hollowed out cypress in which she had turned into a cabinet of sorts for all of her herbal needs. She moved away from the pair and began rummaging for the specific ingredients she had in mind. Once she was satisfied with her cache, she brought it over and placed it in front of the stallion. "Eat up, you'll feel better by morning."

.

Noda allowed Rip to step away from her, her orbs lingering on his frame as she watched him. Her features did little to mask her emotions at this time. She absolutely hated seeing him in such pain but she also felt much better with him being in the good hands of her mother ... right?

.

"Noda dear, you said that you really can't remember anything past your time with Riptide? Nothing at all from the herd?" There was a slight change in Liona's tone. It was something she was trying really hard to mask. Noda responded with a simple shake of her head as she made note of her dam once again looking to the stallion with a wincing glare. Perhaps her mother knew of her previous unkindness to Riptide and she was just confused as to why he's forgiven her? I mean, what else could it be?

.

"And you don't remember the fire that gave you those burns?" Liona continued. "No, I just woke up with them one day ..." Again, Noda shook her head, but then remembered the words her dam had spoken before. Wait, you said that "He" told you I was dead, who is "He?!"

.

Noda's interest peaked immedaiately at the hope someone knew what had really happened to her. Liona hesitantly nodded, "Yes, well, kind of. A herd member claimed to have been there with you. Said humans had caught you both during the forest fire over on the southern part of the mountain range and tried to move you in a trailer. Apparently something happened and before the both of you escaped, he said you were swallowed whole by the flames. He couldn't save you."

.

Liona's heart nearly broke retelling the worst story she could have ever heard as a mother. A pit formed in her stomache just thinking about the emotions that plagued her the first time she heard it from the survivor. She was absolutely broken, and was for a long time. Meanwhile, Noda was having flashbacks of her reoccuring nightmare. Flashes of the flames and the piercing blue eyes that plagued most of her thoughts at all times. The blue eyes had to the survivor her mother was talking about!

"Ugh, why can't I remember any of this," Noda snorted, her heart hurting as she watched the pain in her dam's eyes.

"Trauma does have a way of supressing itself ..." The black mare began and then paused, her eyes falling to the ground as if she was trying hard to remember something. "Perhaps I can find something to help get those memories back to you ..." The black mare's voice trailed off but this was all that Noda needed to hear.

.

"Wait, really? I can have my memories back? How?!" Noda couldn't belive the words she was hearing. A chance to have the rest of her life back? The red mare looked to her stallion companion and recieved a slap to the face that pulled her head from the clouds.

.

Here she was, thinking about remembering the faces of her herdmates and the memories she had with her dam, but with those, also came the ones she had honestly been glad to forget. The ones where she had utterly destoryed the stallion she wanted to call her ... friend? Was that even the right word for the feelings she felt? She honestly wondered if she could live with herself if she knew the whole truth. And what if knowing this made her fall back into her old self? After finally being able to forgive her, what if she ended up hurting him all over again?

.

"Yes, there is a plant called ginkgo that is supposed to be able to help with memory, although, I've never dealt with it before, myself. It's a day or so worth of traveling to get to where it grows. It's too dangerous to travel that terrain at night, we'd have to leave first thing in the morning." Liona added and while the others were happy with this revelation, there was still a dark, gut stirring feeling draped over her.

.

It was dangerous for the two to be here, especially the mare. She had to make sure she got them out of here as early as possible without any of the herd members noticing, but most importantly ... Silas.

.

"Lets head back to the meadow, it will be safe there to get a couple hours of sleep."

.

**** (I'm going to jump a little in time to save the word count XD)

.

The mare's helped Riptide back to the place where they had met Liona, but just a bit more tucked up in the terriory and covered in brush that surrounded the tall growing grass. Liona went to the support of an oak tree trunk to rest against while Noda lingered around the stallion.

.
"Hey Rip, I just want to say thank you for helping me find my dam. This means so much to me. You have given me so much more kindness than I deserve." Her words were a bit bashful, feeling herself emotionally exposed and vulnerable, but everything just as truthful.

.

Her orbs that were lingering on the ground courageously lifted to meet his gaze for the first time since she began speaking. A soft smile formed across her muzzle and her lips briefly parted, as if there was more she wanted to say. More of her soul to bare, but just as her moment of courage had been mustered, what was in her heart was more than the bravery she had to say it. She felt as though their time together was coming to a bitter end. She knew he had a herd to get back to- the thought of him leaving her ... but in the same breath, she couldn't leave her dam again. Not after all they had endured to get here. She wanted the best of both worlds; the three of them returing to Rip's herd with some kind of happily every after in store. She would sacrifice all of her memories of her former self for a future to build with the family she would create. But this dream felt so out of reach and as the sun set around them, so did the chance she had to speak her mind.

Write as MUCH as you want! I love reading these. I wish I could write more, but I get 600 or so words in and my puppy barks at me like "Hello, I'm here too!" XD)

Riptide lowered his cranum slightly to focus on the ground, his hooves sinking deep into the muck as he carefully paced forward. He slipped every once in a while, but quickly regained his footing, resisting the urge to wince. His nostrils flared as he took in the damp air of the swamp, audits flicking around as he scanned the area carefully in between steps. He couldn't see very far, which made him even more wary, and the scents were all dampened by the fog. His shoulder twitched with unease, lip curling as he lifted his head and scented the air again. Unhelpfully, there was nothing, but he had expected that.

His audits swiveled towards Liona as she spoke, head dipping slightly as a miniature smile graced his features. "As long as it's... semi-safe." No where was completely safe, although right now, his land seemed like it was pretty safe. It was open and easy to see everything, and it wasn't ever windy enough to where he couldn't smell anything. Here felt eerie and quiet, where anyone could sneak up on them and they could sneak up on anyone. Or... anything. He felt a bit queasy with the fact that could happen and he'd likely die trying to do anything about it, as he was already exhausted and struggling.

His orbs focused with aslight hazy look of veiled confusion at Liona's seemingly direct words. The way her eyes flicked away and the hesitation in her voice didn't bode well for the situation. He was already wary of it, as he was a strange stallion coming back to a herd that he had abandoned years before, and he was just thankful she hadn't brought them back to that herd. However, she seemed to know things that she didn't want them to know. His orbs flickered with suspicion as she again gave a vague answer, but after that, he covered his emotions and stayed silent.

He waited patiently by the cypress log until she was done gathering herbs. After sniffing the pile, he decided, with his limited knowledge, that at very least, she wasn't trying to kill him. Helpful knowledge. He was discreet about it, doing it as he lowered his muzzle as if to eat the herbs, and he didn't want either of them to think he didn't trust them... but he didn't. After years of hardship, he had been taught... the hard way... to question everyone and everything, even if he thought he knew them. Noda, for example, was the biggest teacher of this important lesson. It was hard to get Ripp to fully trust anyone now, and he didn't even fully trust his own herd.

After he was finished eating the herbs, he lifted his cranium and looked towards Liona, gaze expressionless. He was obviously covering what he was truly thinking, as he could hear that weird tone in the mare's voice and see that expression. She wasn't telling the full truth, wasn't speaking her thoughts. That didn't sit right with him. Obviously he didn't need to know everything, but this ... this seemed wrong. Especially the glance she gave him. His audits laid back slightly as he turned his muzzle to the swamp, scanning it quickly, the only indication he thought anything was wrong.

His gaze snapped back as the mare said that someone had been there. "They let this happen to her?" His tone broke for a moment as slicing anger cut through. Without a thought, with everything, he would've burned along with her even if he couldn't have saved her. He would've tried, because NO horse deserved to burn like that, whatever they did. She could've made his life worse than a living hell and he still would've never left her there. Gave up so easily. Fury seethed right under his skin, but he reigned it in, again masking his feelings. "You said the horse said the humans tried to move Noda into the trailer but failed before you got there. That meant Noda was outside the trailer when the flames 'engulfed' her." His muzzle twitched into a frown. "Noda, you always explain your nightmares being that you are in a box, with no light but an orange glow coming from a small window." He recounted what she had told him flawlessly, never having forgotten. "You said there were other horses, that you could hear them. If this was what happened, which is likely, then the stories don't add up." His audits pinned again as he thought of this mysterious horse that failed to save her and was lying about what happened.

His mind snapped out of its own thoughts at something the mare said. "...what?" His voice was low as he lifted his muzzle and directed his attention to the both of them, listening carefully. There may be a way to restore her memories. The reality hit him like an ice block to the face. She may remember him. No- no, she couldn't. Everything would fall apart. Their tentative friendship, everything he had built, his resolve to keep her safe- it would all crumble. She would remember how much she hated him, realize she was stupid to want to be near him, and it'd all go back to being the same. Panic flashed through his gaze and mind, his body tensing, before another wave slammed into him, almost as hard. That would be good for her- she'd remember her life. These last few weeks had been hell for her. Who was he to hope her memories didn't come back... for his own sake? Silent pain slowly started suffocating him as he realized he had to nail his own coffin shut. He needed to help her find that herb, and hope it worked. She deserved to know who she was.

His cranium ducked down and he stepped away, wanting to stick his head in the fog and hide from life. His pelt twitched slightly, the movement almost able to be called trembling. He sucked in a breath, the wet air coating his throat. He would have to deal with this silently. He couldn't worry her.

After they returned to the meadow, Ripp had dampened his sadness, hiding it carefully before turning his orbs to Noda, listening to her carefully picked words. His heart felt like it was in a very small box that was progressively getting smaller, but he offered a smile anyway. "You deserve much more kindness than you think. It was the right thing to do, anyway. I'm really glad you found Liona, and I hope... you really enjoy life here." He commented quietly, falling silent afterward as he couldn't bring himself to say more. After almost a minute, he forced himself to speak. "Noda... I know... I know you want your memories back. Obviously. Who wouldn't. I want to accompany you to where this planet is, if you decide to do that, before I go back." He managed to choke out, though he tried to make it sound less agonizing than it was.

Noda's audits pricked forward at his voice, focusing on the words he too, seemed to carefully choose. She smiled softly, briefly turning to peer at her mother's unmoving form.Despite wanting to ignore her gut for peace of mind, there was some strange feeling in the back of the mare's mind screaming 'red flag' about their conversation in the swamp. There were defintely details that were being left out, but would Liona truly hide something from her? Her own daughter?!
.
The stallion's words brought her back to present. She picked up on his hesitance as he mentioned the plant that her dam had forementioned. When it had seemed that there was no choice in the matter, Noda had only dreamed of a way to get her memories back, but now ... now that there was actually a way that might could happen ... she wasn't sure if that was really how she still felt. There was no denying that she felt drawn to Rip and he had done absolutely everything to do right by her, but ... was she really good for him? From the moment she stepped into his life - even as a foal - she had been the source of drama, pain, misery. Even before they set out on this journey, she had made waves within his herd with Minnah and then with the palomino stallion ... what if that was the best she could offer him? A life of danger, uncertainty, and pain? No. She could never do that to him. She would have to push aside her feelings and for once, choose to do something good for him. Even if it broke her heart.
.
"Oh, yeah the plant. I definietly think it's worth a shot." She believeably forced a smile across her muzzle, but kept her gaze low - as always. "It would be nice for us to be able to get back to our own lives, I suppose." She snorted before a yawn parted her lips. The day full of emotions had really drug it out of her. Perhaps tonight would be the night she could actually sleep. "I'll see you in the morning. Goodnight, Rip."
.
With that, Noda found her way back towards her mother and stayed close while she slept. That night, sleep did not find Noda quite easily. She was up for quite a while before she was finally drug away by the sand man. and for the first time since she awoke in that field, she didn't dream at all.
