Hello, I'm pretty new but I've had an account in the past so I know the basics. I know I pretty much have to bulk up on geldings at first as they train the fastest and can bring in a heftier income, however beyond that I'm pretty much useless in the specifics in showing. I've read a guide or two but it's still not making much sense. I've been showing a couple that have at least 14 training days, seeing how they place and then either showing or waiting a week to show depending on how they did. Is this all there is until I can afford better more dependable horses? I kinda went with random PEP geldings that were cheap, but should I be training them in a specific sport? Or showing them in one specific one? How do I know what sport they're most strong in? I'm sorry if this is a lot, I just really want to learn but am also so confused 😅😅 thanks for any and all help :D

For PPP+ geldings I always train in AD, since I hand show (go to each horses page to enter) this is the best way to make more ebs in my opinion.

How you know to enter a horse is by training bars, each set of colored bars goes with one level. So for level 1 you want each characteristic that goes with the discipline (shown below) to have it's set of bars and more.

Dressage: Mv, Int, Str

XC: Hrt, Spd, Str

J: Hrt, Scp, Spd

Example:

Your horse Thief on Fire has level up in XC already but is still level one in D and J. He would likely do well in either of those disciplines since he has his first set of bars (the dark brown ones) and a few more in the characteristics that go with that discipline.

Let me know if you have any other questions :)

I can pretty much second White Hills.
A thing or two about horses for your showing stock: geldings are most stables preferred choice as they train fast. However if you put mares on cycle suppressant they train equally fast. I wouldn't recommend buying PPP+ mares until you have a steady income, but afterwards they're good show horses and you can additionally use them for doing quests. Plus as most stables buy mares mostly for breeding, PPP-PEP mares are dirt cheap even if they are a higher showing level. In general you pay 1k for each showing level a gelding has (so if a gelding is eventing level 4, you usually pay 4k for him). A mare is usually less than 1k per show level. To CS a mare you pay 200 ebs each year yet it's a rather small fee compared to the benefits (in my opinion).
Also something to keep in mind when buying new show horses: if they already have some training, make sure they're not weak in hrt. A horse that's low in hrt is more prone to spook during shows leading to refusals and elimination from show. I actually track my geldings training (noting when they gain training bars) and weeding out the ones weak in hrt. Any gelding that hasn't gained a bar in hrt by week 5 get's free ranged.

I like mares for showing, but I don't CS them. They make me more off their breeding fees than any extra in show earnings they would get by training faster.

White hills idea really sais it all.
Also if youre premium, you can use the barn manager, but only if you have under 200 geldings and am strapped for time.
If i have more time i would totally hand enter them all in :)
