Nate was pacing in the waiting room, anxiously waiting for his wife, Hunter was napping in a makeshift bed in their corner of the waiting room.

A doctor came out of the operating room as they were finishing up stitches, a confused but concerned look on his face. "Mr. Croft..." He started, pausing. "Your wife had internal bleeding and isn't going to wake for a bit. We really don't know when she will..." Or if. The doctor thought, finishing his sentence mentally

Nate nodded, running a hand through his hair. "Okay, just... just make sure shes okay,"

"You can see her now, though she isn't awake yet" The doctor said, gesturing to room 5 at the end of the hall. "She's just down there"

Nate nodded, "Thank you," he said, scooping up his sleeping toddler and his things, walking down to her room.

Dakota's face was blank, her pulse weak but there, and an IV in her arm. She could breathe fine, but she looked nearly dead the way she laid there, motionless except for the rise and fall of her chest

Nate began crying the moment he saw her. He settled Hunter down in a comfy chair on the side, sleeping. Nate knelt beside her bed, crying. "Please don't leave me... I need you..."

Dakota mind was foggy but not suffocating anymore. Her breaths were clearer, stronger, as she lay there. Her pulse was just as weak, if not worse, as another doctor came in. "Do you have any questions, Mr. Croft?"

Nate was still sobbing by her bedside, holding her hand. He shook his head.
